I do like the P's and J's with matching headstocks and maple necks. If I were to go w/w I may not do that though. Sure would be nice to have a Super P in the stable. (must... close... browser...)

Matching, but with blocks! I was slightly tempted to put a wenge neck on it, but deicded to stay traditional.

How would you describe the 5 string vs 4 string Super P neck? :)

Interesting. The 4-strings are pretty Elfin a bit like a jazz bass neck (or at least a sadowsky one), whereas the 5-string P have a distinctly flattened profile, abit like a fender U but much thinner front to back. I'd say they aren't very thick or chunky (similar to a rebop 5 in front to back depth) but have less carve at the edges.

They're quite comfortable though. 5-string long scales have generally thinner necks, although my AB2 is with fedex right now, so I only have Z profile 5-necks to compare, and an NG, and 6 and 4 ABs.

Does that help?

Yeah, definitely! I have an older SJ4 and got a Super P on order. Originally I had the Super P spec'd with a J neck but changed my mind after trying out a D-Roc 4 and talking to Sheldon about it.

I've also played a friend's Super P5 and SJ5. The necks are definitely "flatter" than on some other basses like you mentioned :)

Whoa! Yours Nate? I've not seen that before! Very cool indeed!
Nope that’s NaHs I believe.

one of my favs though.

this was mine.... and now in the hands of a great fellow member here. This is also the one I regret selling most of any bass

I would have loved to have done the same thing with this headstock though. The little inlay would have looked so sick.
