I tried a set of LaBella Low Tension flats with my SP5. They worked pretty good. Then I put the stock rounds back on. Currently have Cobalt flats on the SP/J4. I think they’re a better choice for me. More bite.

I don’t have any experience on that. I tried DR BBs on my SJ at one point but never flats. @whirledpeas had a nice slinky set I tried once. Probably TIs

Oh no, that one is still on the block. I have a Super PJ they'd go on.
I do like the TI's though. They just get better with age

For stringing B-E-A-D.

I'm just wondering why the Dingwall strings have different gauges than what Kalium says are "balanced". Like, is it a difference of opinion or did Dingwall specifically sacrifice even tension for some other metric? Or something else entirely?

If I recall correctly, I think Sheldon is looking for even tension across all strings. I seem to recall 47lbs. Maybe the charts are accurate, but he would pick strings that give you 47lbs of tension?

great strings. CAD sucks so they are a bit more costly but..... great strings.

Thanks for the reply, but the question is still: why does Kalium's idea of "ideal" gauges differ from Dingwall's on the same instruments? I wish there was some explanation of the difference of opinion.

It probably boils down to a matter of opinion and preference. Dingwall's OEM strings are likely constructed differently from Kalium's. One thing is for sure though... Dingwall is guaranteed to deliver your strings where it's highly unlikely you'll receive anything you order from Kalium.
