Dingwall Owners Club

Thank you so much for the kind words, John. You really know how to make a big guy a little embarrassed. I'm really looking forward to doing business with you again soon.

And yes, I already thanked @AB Nate for helping me find this beauty. He also found my NG3 in Calgary and even had the store manager put it aside for me. We've chatted a lot via text messages and on the phone (from across the country). I curse him sometimes. Lol
There's also @Waltsdog who let me try his collection of Dingwalls a couple years ago, which brought me down this rabbit hole. And @RussT who found my SJ in Toronto, @Lowendtech with whom I've had several discussions and almost ended up with his Z3 and SP. I've learned a lot about Dingwall on this thread and made quite a few friends at the same time.
Thank you all! I love my Dingwalls!!!

Rocky
While your cursing me can you perhaps throw in something like,

“I curse you Nate! I curse you to have lots and lots of money and lots and lots of Dingwalls!”“I also curse you to show up to next years pool party!”

Im glad that all worked out for you Rocky

Have been playing Dingwalls for nearly 2 decades now and just discovered this thread. Figured I’d better post a picture of my small Dingwall family and join the club before my recently listed ABZ 5 sells.View attachment 3889692
I think I've seen that ABZ on CL, I have its cousin about an hour north of you.

I got the Voodoo from jimc here on TB. I asked Sheldon what year it was, but all he could say was that from the 1089 serial number it was pre fire. As I’m reading through this thread I found a post by swpyne who owned it farther back. He stated that Sheldon told him it was a 1995. It’s a beautiful transparent blue that I can’t get a decent picture of with my phone. It has Aguilar OBP-3 preamp, Kahler Saddles and Sperzel locking tuners.

Ah, it was 'reading' as black to me. It's a nice one. How's the neck profile? My earlier Voodoo Prima had a really big thick C-profile neck. I would assume the preamp is a retro-fit? This would have still been the era where Sheldon was using Bartolini pickups and preamps. Mine has the same bars on the neck and locking tuners, though being earlier has parallel pickups not angled ones.

Lol! I will try that. And especially the pool party. It’s a hoot. Thanks again, brother!

Played my first gig tonight since entering the Dingwall arena. It was an outdoor 4th event with maybe 400-500 folks (socially distanced). This was the Combustion and after the show I received more compliments about my tone and playing from non musicians than I’ve ever gotten. Pretty stoked and it was great to get back out there.
The D-Roc gets its inaugural spin in two weeks.
I also got to open up my Traynor SB 500 with two Ampeg 210’s....no complaints there...very capable rig.

Hey guys! Loooong time no post!

I'm wondering if anyone knows the wait time for the D-Roc standards?

I'm a proud 2011 ABZ-5 owner, but the new band is drop tuned in a way that a 5 string is really useless. Who needs a low G#?!

I just recorded a 3 song EP with a USA G&L L-2000. I love L-2000's, but guess what! That low C is getting pretty floppy! Especially since I'm use to my ABZ.

I've spent most of the morning looking for an up to date wait time with no luck and Dingwall is closed over the weekend. (Good for them!) So here I am! Also, If you're still reading... Are ya'll buying direct from Dingwall like I did in 2011, or are you going through dealers?

Thanks in advance!

Here is an older pic with the ABZ!

Speak to some dealers they will have basses in or on order already so you can skip the wait. If you order direct from Dingwall you’re looking at 12 months on an import model and 18 months on a Canadian, both of those are rough estimates and it maybe longer or shorter.

Check out Reverb. Some dealers currently have them in stock. I know for sure that there is one at the Long and Mcquade in markham ontario (toronto area). You could contact them. They probably move more dingwalls than anyone. Also, they are cheaper here so even with exchange and all the other nonsense you still might come out ahead. The phone number is 905-209-1177. I am in no way affiliated with them. They are just my local store.

If it’s anything like the Combustion’s it’s gonna be about 12 months. I ordered one in August of last year and now having to wait till November. That was a 5 string though but I ended up buying a 4 string from these guys www.basscentral.com, had it three days later and I’m in Canada too. Bass Central is located in Florida.

Looks like they got one in stock

Great info on Long and Mcquade. I have never heard of them!

Reverb is still saying summer of 2020, soooo I feel confident that's not the most up to date info. :)

I just received my Combustion replacement from Fed Ex, first one I got was severely damaged. These goons just left it outside though, no knock or ring of the bell, sat outside my place for hours.

Will update after I crack this bad boy open.
