Recently scored this old Combustion and so far I'm in love with how it plays. It sounds great too but I wish it had a little more bite. I'd love to do an NG mod and while I'm more than confident, I can't bring myself to ruin the originality. This is supposedly a limited edition finish - can anyone confirm?View attachment 3887816

I knew you were going to be commenting on that one!I love that color. I never recall them saying "this is limited edition", but it sort of is in the sense that they haven't gone back and done that color.

I know I’m gonna be putting a pair of big singles in both my combustion’s but if you’re just doing the one pickup I’d go with the big split.I love the Nordenbacker pickup in my Rick and all the talk about them has me wanting to swap out the FD-3N pups in my NG-3 basses with them. Actually, I'd probably only swap the bridge pup since I normally use that one solo'd.
But the question is which Nord pup for an aggressive metal tone? Big Single, Big Split, Big Rig? The description of the Big Single sounds great, but since it's single coil, I'm worried about noise. Recommendations?
TIA,

I'd add that a pair of singles should be humbucking like a pair of J pups; I asked Nordstrand directly about this.I know I’m gonna be putting a pair of big singles in both my combustion’s but if you’re just doing the one pickup I’d go with the big split.
If you decide to flip it and get an NG, I’d love to take that off your hands. I’m a sucker for orange.Recently scored this old Combustion and so far I'm in love with how it plays. I MAY have hit the buy button as soon as I saw it...
