Hey Andy, I probably drove past your place last night on my way back from Henry’s Fork. It’s never been listed in CL. You may have seen it on KSL a while back. I let that expire as I got tired of dealing with Nigerian Princes and low ballers. Nice looking ABZ you have there.

This would have still been the era where Sheldon was using Bartolini pickups and preamps. I must admit I’m not much for being able to describe the nuances between different bass’. This was my second 5 string. My first was a Peavey Cirrus that I traded for the Voodoo. I had owned a couple of 4 string Cirrus and really liked them which is why I jumped on the 5. I loved every thing about it except my fretting hand would start to cramp after playing it usually within a half hour. Never had that happen with the Voodoo or any of the other Dingwalls. As far as the pre and pups, it’s the same as I got it and appears the same as the previous 2 sellers described it. Beyond that I don’t know when or if a previous owner changed them out. On another note, I took it outside and got some better, still not good pictures.

Definitely a nice bass. :) At some point someone has upgraded/changed the electronics for sure. Those pickups definitely date to the post-fire post 2000 time period. That 'knob set' was also standard issue up to something like 2006 or so.

I just received my P-Tone for my SP/J bridge position yesterday. It will be replacing an FDV. I’ll pop in with a thought after I get it done. I also have a tone fusion control to pop in.

Ok, so I put the P-Tone in and left the tone control alone for now so there wasn’t any other variables.
My thoughts?
It’s way better imo.
More girth/heft/grunt/bottom.
I had both P/ups wired in series, so that’s constant. P/up height is set to within .001” of the FDV that I took out.
The difference is immediately and profoundly noticeable. I’ve never had much use for bridge p/ups. Always too thin and nasal. Not this. It also makes the N/B parallel setting another animal.
Highly recommended.

That’s all for now. Gotta put the tone control in.

It’s worth noting that the p/ups have pretty different ohm readings. By about 5k♎️ and the magnets are as well.
