Dingwall Owners Club

Intriguing color. I want to see it outdoors, etc. Probably still a bit matte for my tastes.

You know, I like it. I generally don't love 'matte' finishes but I really DO like the ones I'm seeing out of the shop. This color is sort of a copper-meets-rose-gold. The more 'shoreline gold' color is fantastic too.

Agree - i don't "mind" the colour - maybe it was a conscious effort to not make look 'prog rock' colourwise? ...possibly to welcome other genres - thinking low key, sunburst etc. I read some articles lately stating that these were getting pigeonholed into a genre (read between the lines of the article)...i personally don't think so, but i also like red, sunburst, and black trans basses - no particular order.
These aren't my fav body shape - nor do i care for the thickness top wing - feels like there isn't enough meat on it to rest my forearm - but they certainly LOOK 80's-90's RnR...plus ANYTHING Dingwall does, is certainly far better than its predecessors and boutique in every way.
This colour reminds me of the rose gold matte earrings i bought the wife - ironically the day after she found out i ordered my second Dingwall ---hmmm.... ;)

Interesting.

Who makes replacement humbuckers, only nordstrand ?

Good question. Nordstrand might be able to do it. I know some who have put some of his pickups in. With the non-curved edge pickups you probably have more options if you're not fussy about how the coils cover the strings.

Just for kicks I'm wondering if anyone's had good luck getting a very convincing jazz bass tone with both pickups on with a Combustion or Z series bass? If so, any tricks or hints?

I'll be working on the neck/bridge setting and eq to see what I can do but thought I'd check.

Has anyone successfully installed babicz solorail saddles? They look like a great upgrade for the import models but wondering if anyone ever found out if they were drop in or if modifications were needed?

I believe you can use one of the holes. Use the other hole to line up. Screw one screw in, Mark your hole, remove then drill baby drill. (Gently and carefully of course)

Not personally, because I don’t have the neck/bridge option on my bass. But that’s the pickup setting you’d want to use, with the two pickups in parallel. If you have the option to run each of the pickups in parallel internally that might get you closer to a true J single coil sound than the default series internal wiring.
