Here it is. D-Roc 5, Ari Gold, Wenge/Wenge neck, Drop-A tuner. It is an amazing bass. I roughly knew what I was getting myself into owning D-Bird. This actually sounds quite different, probably due to the wenge neck.

Goes nicely next to my D-Bird & Lee Sklar I. I can't wait to gig it but that might be quite a while given the current restrictions here in Victoria, Australia.

That's my favourite colour/finish on the D-Roc that I have seen so far. Congrats!

The Dingwall website has a page with audio samples of all their pickups.

I think Dingwall markets the FDV as more "traditional" and the FD3 as more "modern." That may be true for the magnets; the Alnico has be around longer than ceramic but I find the sounds to be the opposite. The FD3's have a fuller low mid range while the FDVs sound a little scooped to me with a brighter top end.

I played FD3s for a long time, always with a buffer to brighten them up. When I got a bass with FDVs, it took me some time to get used to the sound. I generally put a slight boost on the low mids.

Just got a nice email from Billy Rowe at the shop in Saskatoon... Super-P 5 is finished and ready to head out to me. :) Wasn't expecting word until October at the earliest, so that's really great news and says a lot about how the shop is running these days!

Hey everyone! Just picked up a lefty NG3 5 and I am loving it.

The one thing I’d like to mess around with is changing the bridge/middle pickup selection from series to parallel.

I think I’d get a lot more use out of it in parallel ... I understand that in series it’s supposed to be more of a Stingray vibe, but, to me, it sounds too much like the bridge pickup soloed.

Here’s my wiring - I’m guessing I need to untape the wires that are taped up and add them to the selector, but I wanted to lean on the more knowledgeable electronics guys who post in here to see if it’s possible and to make sure I get it right.

That's very exciting. If I'm not mistaken you put in your Super P5 order in around the same time as I put in my Super J order. That combined with some order questions from The Bass Shop recently I'm hopeful that this means I'll have similar news to share soon as well. A guy can dream can't he? :smug:

Here's hoping. Of course, there are some of us who haven't put any order in since 2014...leading to an infinite wait time. Talk about painful!

Hope springs a turtle! As far as I know, the production queue is on time, so whatever they’ve quoted you through your dealer is probably legit.

What did they line it with? I'm not having that trouble with Luminlay and a finished FB.

How old is it? I've got one from probably 10 years ago or so and haven't had trouble. Or was this a "after the fact" fretless?
