Count me in as well, with my modded ABII (John East preamp) and upcoming Z1.

Franco, your number 4

Also, I would like to know more about the John East pre in the ABII.

When I put the Aggie pre in mine, I tried wiring the pups in series, it was way to overpowering. Now with the pups in parallel, I still can't turn the volume up all the way, it just puts so much signal into the face of the amp!

The John East preamp in my ABII is a custom job. It has two sweepable mids with overlapping frequency ranges. I also had John use the same switches that Sheldon uses (which feel a lot nicer than the usual Retro switches), and the pickup selector switch is a 3-position, so that in passive mode I can select either pickup or both.

I lost the BluEQube functionality (which I rarely used), and the both-pickups-in-series option, which while giving a nice aggressive sound, was so much hotter than the other three positions that it was cumbersome to use - I'd have to adjust volume after switching into or out of series mode.

I gained the ability to blend the pickups, and gained an extremely flexible EQ.

The end result looks like this:
