Dingwall Owners Club

Has Sheldon ever mentioned the possibility of a headless bass?
I intend to buy a headless multiscale bass, but a B-string below 37" is out of the question, which rules Ibanez out.
A D-Roc (love the corpus) or a Combustion would be perfectly fine, but I fail to see the purpose of the head.
There’s gonna be prototypes this year. Sheldon mentioned it during a live stream

HA, @abnate I was just coming here to talk about that. Serial number in the 300s, with what looked like Sheldon's full signature on the back of the headstock. I had it in my cart for about a half hour and I'm glad I decided to chill as I was hotter than a two dollar pistol for it. I've wanted an earlier model for a while but $1400 just seemed a hair steep - you think this is a new floor for the earlier stuff?

i kinda do. If it’s minty like it seems with the PG and assuming an active/passive switch perhaps a bit of haggling but it’s not far off the bottom.

anything found below that is a GOOD deal IMO. especially that well kept

Are you the buyer!
No, given your post I was curious and clicked on the link and Reverb told me "sold, should we show you others?". So I responded here.
But then I had a question about the specs and went back a minute ago and it was available again...

I just bought the Z1 - my buying is curtailed until the number of hours practiced once again exceeds the number of dollars spent ...

Good point. I haven't followed the market for more than a year or so, and since that time I've only seen them go up and become fewer in between. I'm just glad it wasn't too good of a deal...

...and I'm glad you bought that Z, because I just took delivery of this baby that I have been meaning to introduce to the gang:

This instrument is a wonder. My Dingwall ownership saga is long and boring, but the short version is I originally ordered an Amethyst 10th anniversary [a bunch of stuff happened] then I scooped up Ryno's previous NG3 this summer and it was great but sound wise I just couldn't get "there." After mulling over a custom for a bit, I pulled the trigger on what I originally set out to do nearly a year and a half ago. I'm a damn happy camper now and cannot put this lovely machine down.

NICE...

And trust me, you're not nearly as glad as I am. I have blisters on my finger (like in that old Dire Straights tune) - that's how much I've been playing the Z1. I still totally suck and am an embarrassment to all Dingwall owners everywhere... but man am I having fun :hyper::bassist::smug::roflmao::thumbsup:

Well welcome back in then! I’ve been tempted by the amethyst burst as well. It’s gorgeous. I think I have a thing for purple too.

Only 2 important reasons to have a bass. Play and have fun!! All the other details are secondary.
