That stinks.

FWIW, I severely strained my right wrist area a year ago. Doc told me to take it easy as well. What did I do? I went home, took the wrist brace off (yeah it was that bad) to see if I could play. Amazingly, I could (reduced practice sessions).

I'm not saying you should try that!!!

But hey, I won't tell your doctor if you do. :)

I think I hurt my thumb from playing too much bass this past week on top of my computer based job/pc gaming, so I'm going to take it easy for a bit lol

Good heavens, is that possible? :D

Rock on! (in two weeks) :bassist:

I work as a software engineer, so thats 8 hours of typing minimum per day. Add another hour or two for gaming, and then an hour or two for bass practice, and it adds up fast. I recently got an Axe FX 3 and a new (to me) super P, so the bass playing has been on the higher end recently.

Suuuuuure it was from bass and computer playing. ;)

Totally possible. I had a job for a handful of years where I did 8-hours on a computer a day then went home to play for a few hours and ended up getting carpal tunnel style symptoms and muscle/tendon strain, especially in my right hand, though I had a good ergonomic setup, decent wrist support and play with pretty good technique. I ended up switching to using a lefty-mouse setup and all the problems went away.

@Challanger2 sorry to hear about the injury, that stinks. Hope you're on the mend asap! :bassist:

Me and my new friend for the next couple weeks. It’s definitely helping, doc said I can stop wearing the splint when there’s no pain, but no instruments for 2 weeks to fully heal. I’m also cutting down my gaming to just be a few hours a week. I play an MMO so I have to be on for our 20 person raids.

I would like to report something which happened to me some months ago (maybe it is 1 or 2 years, I decided to write it here only now, don't ask me why I didn't write this post before, I really don't know, but when the post-sale assistance and customer care reaches such an high level I think I have to share my experience, Dingwall guys sure deserve it):
I have a Super P 5 strings (which I love, the best sounding P ever IMHO), while changing instrument setup due to a strings gauge change, I made a mess and broke the head in one of the screws of the bridge (I know I'm an idiot...), anyway I got in touch with the store in Canada and explained them I was in need of the size/code of those screws in order to find them on the internet (since I'm based in Italy I can find screws based on metric measures only, and the oem screw thread is in inches of course), customer care guys kindly answered me if I could gave 'em my address they should ship me an entire set of screws with no charge, long story short they did sent me a package with the screws, but, even if the EU laws are clear (when it's a gift or the shipped goods costs' is no more than 25 € you have not to pay for custom clearence) the postman asked me to pay 90 €, of course I refused the package, the day after I got in touch with the shop in Canada again and told them I was sorry to refuse the screws and I had to send them back (after my request and their kind move if they saw the package coming back with the stamp "refused" on it they could have thought I'm crazy)
The only solution seemed to be keep searching for the right screw thread around the net, but found nothing and started to think I had to re-work the screw hole in the bridge in order to put a "metric" screw in it...
Now, some weeks later I received another package (without any custom clearence cost this time...) with a full set of screws: Dingwall guys sent me another one to let me accomodate the bass (again with no charge), I was astonished and gratefull, I think the best way to thank them is to share my experience to let everybody how incredibly kind these guys are
Sorry for the extremely long post and for my "not so good" english :D

Not too long of a post, and your English is better than some native English speakers on this forum :). That is a cool thing to read!

I was planning on taking my new super P to rehearsal today to try for the first time at loud volumes, but I’ve been having some pain in my left wrist. Went to the urgent care and apparently I have a sprained thumb. Doctor’s orders are no playing any instruments for two weeks :(
I had some debilitating tendinitis in my right hand and wrist a couple months back. I was working in a bakery 40+ hours a week, so the doctor assumed it was a repetitive stress injury. I was in a brace for a couple weeks and had to be really careful when I went back to work because it was still sensitive. I ended up irritating my left hand because I was trying to distribute the work more evenly. I don't think I played bass for over a month, not to mention the fact I was just not motivated and a bit depressed before and after that, so it may have been two months. But everything is back to normal now!

It really is the definition and clarity of the low notes that's the selling point to me.

Good to hear that the recovery seems solid so far.

A couple of my co-workers also moved to trak-ball setups instead of using a computer mouse to help carpal tunnel situations. Just another option for you as well.

I had to check the date of this post. I assumed i somehow landed in a thread from the mid-90s.
Wait, are there people today who use a mouse with their computer? For real? It's been at least 25 years that I've had a mouse on any of my systems...
