We’re so spoiled by how much the Dingwall crew has tailored the multiscale fretboard into the full design of their instruments. I see stuff like that, and it’s so noticeable how they’ve just slapped a multiscale board onto an existing design and did minimal work to tie it all together. The headstock is where it shows the most to me.
Kudos to EBMM for doing it a bit better than some of the other multiscale options with the gross fretboard ending near the headstock, but I’m still not too impressed.
Looking forward to photos.Done it. Hopefully will join your club soon![]()
Agree, here. $4200 is a lot to throw down on a production piece from EBMM, for me. I'm sure it's fantastic though. Is JP actually playing it, I wonder? I gave a couple tracks off the new album a spin and was quite... bored with it tbh. It sounds like a bunch of re-used riffs.it actually looks really well executed to me. Blows away a lot of the FF basses we’ve seen come out for sure.

it really is that easy.
1. Remove strings
2. Back the 2 height adjustment pick up screws all the way out
3. Lift pick up
4. Remove tubing
5. Cut tubing an appropriate amount.
6.reverse steps 5-1.
You got this!
I think we were all expecting to see rubber tubing, sleeved over the mounting screws....
This is news to me.
Sorry about that...
It looks like it was tightly compressed, and it’s good that you stopped tightening the screws before anything stripped.
If you have a measurement for how much lower the pups should go to be at spec, I’d mark the foam and trim.
Remember the treble side is closer to the stings (higher) and the bass side is further from the strings (lower).
So you’ll remover more foam from the bass side and less from treble side.
Good news is you can always add foam back.
How close to spec did you get before?
How’s the rest of your setup look?
I removed the pickup and looks like the foam is too much]
Like the malt man said, we were expecting tubing. Honestly expected rounded shells too. Bad assumption. I’ve owned at least 4 square shelled basses and never had that issue, even after removing some shims from under bridge pieces.I actually had this for a while and even kept it like this after few strings changes. I finally got annoyed enough with new strings decided to tackle the issue. Glad to hear i did not damage anything.
I dont think the Treble side was ever 3mm, more like 2mm max so It was never was what it was supposed to be.
I follow the dingwall setup guide on youtube normally and use low action. The pickup setup is generally where I had the problem
I removed the pickup and looks like the foam is too much? I dont think I can do anything about the cables really, should I shave some of the foam, it is pretty dense. You can see how much it was pushing towards the cables.

Seen an interview online where John was talking about it some time ago, and the tweaking they went through with prototypes. Very happy to see extended range getting more coverage, and hope some day that F# becomes common enough that people don’t look at you with one eyebrow raised and with half a crooked smile. It’s getting there…Did anybody else notice that EBMM just announced a fanned fret guitar?

As of right now (time of the post) EB’s website states there’s only 6 left out of the 100.
