I just had the 6 way rotary installed in my NG, and man, it has more "ovaries" than it did with the stock 4 way!

Well, "balls" has no real meaning. Jumping off with just saying "The D-Roc has more volume" would've side stepped that entirely.
But hey, as I've said before, quite often in fact, to each their own. When I need more volume, I'll just turn a volume knob up

Got my NG-3 from the tech after installing huge strings and setting up in drop G.
These are Kalium 63-82-106-160 strings. These are massive. Haha!
Might go a little heavier on the top 3 strings though. I feel they’re a bit floppy but i’ll give it a week of playtime.

Yeaahhhh I'm glad I'm very happy with the DB rotary in my 3x bass. Middle solo is my most common, with all three being next up after that. So far I've avoided the 6-way rotary temptation Especially helpful that my main two basses only have two pickups (Prima and the latest Z), and couldn't be happier with that

I’m so tempted to tell JFB to have them install a DB switch in my Z3, and just not worry about the other settings I’d have with a 6-way.

Definitely, but, I don't think many folks are switching basses for that (which is what the comparison was - an NG vs a D-Roc volume, er, balls, or something)

I had a question for our resident Super J owners…

I know there is a lot of love (understandably so) for the split-p pickup, but has anyone chosen to go with FDV’s on their Super J?

I am considering getting a SJ5 and am not sure about which pickup configuration to go with. When playing my traditional jazz bass, I almost always use both pickups on full and play with the tone knob as needed.

I currently have a Ptone/FD3 ABZ5 and I have been thinking a SJ5 with FDV’s would compliment it nicely.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be great!
