ADGCFA and also ACGCFA is my preferred.. need another for standard as I am normally so happy on my Dingwall that i will tune it up rather to standard or half step down over grabbing another bass but this means that the tension and action is tight.

D'addario NYXL. Their super light 95-40 4 string set + tapered long scale 130 low B.
Before these, I was using La Bella Low Tension Flexible Flats. The E-G were awesome, but the B was just too light of a gauge. If I had a 4 string Super and wanted to run flats, I'd have a hard time picking between the LTFF and TI Jazz Flats.
Before the LTFF, I used Dunlop Super Bright nickels when the set with the tapered B was available. From my recollection the NYXLs sound similar to the Super Brights. I liked how the Super Brights still maintained some spank even when they were well worn.
I'm waiting for Elixir to make their tapered nickel low B available again, because I used to love Elixir's many years ago.
To be perfectly honest, I’m not completely sure. I don’t know if the strings have ever been changed (something I’ll do soon) but they still sound fine. It’s a 2019 model originally bought in 2020 from Chicago music exchange and ended up at a music store in Pensacola where I bought it on Reverb (the original receipts and paper trail were in the gig bag). They look like the standard Dingwall nickels. It was tuned (but not strung) BEAD when I got it but I’ve taken it all the way to standard and back down to drop C and haven’t had any issues. I’m fine with down tuning standard strings because I don’t mind lower string tension, but that’s the joy of the multi scale, down tuning without too much “flop” and maintaining clarity.
right now Payson nickels on the J and dingwall nickels on the P. I think the dingwalls are a bit slinkier and the Paysons are a bit more aggressive sounding and tighter. Both feel great
Super P5 here. Tried my favourite GHS Pressure Wounds on it for my first string change, but found myself wanting a little more bite. I've got Dingwall Nickels on it now and liking them so far. The tone control on the Supers is very flexible, and I found the slightly subdued high end of the Pressure Wounds to be a little bit too limiting with the tone wide open. Based on some discussion in this thread back on Page 2330, I wanted to try the Paysons, but I didnt want to pay what they were charging for shipping to Canada.

I have the detuner set to flats because the music leader at church is a pianist and frequently uses flat keys. Lots of church music in Bb and Ab. I use those low notes very sparingly.
Question for those with Canadian basses...will a standard Hipshot ultralite 1/2" drop tuner work? I want to be able to flip into drop A for certain sections where it or the Bb would be useful.
No, the Canadian basses are recessed. The tuners are different than the standard and the Combustion tuners. You will have to custom order from Hipshot. They are nice folks and are very helpful.
Depends on the model, some are recessed some aren’t (see pics, Super P, D-Roc & ABZ) and some of the older Supers had extra short tuners.
Dingwalls use a 3/8” tuner diameter. 1/2” would be too large. To answer the other part of the question. As far as length of the post is concerned, the Hipshot shaft length appears shorter on the recessed Canadian headstocks. I have one USA Hipshot tuner I just bought on my AB1 and the post that the string wraps around sticks out farther than the other tuners. I used to have a drop tuner in that spot (that I put on my D-bird) and it also stuck out farther. It’s not something you can see from straight on or from a distance, but the aftermarket Hipshot tuners do have longer shafts.

from the side you can see the B tuner post sticks out further (new USA Hipshot):
on the D-bird you can see all the posts are the same length (all new USA Hipshots with a Detuner):
If you plan on getting all new tuners, they’ll most likely be longer shafts but the only one who will notice is you.

Ok I need help, need to find steel bass strings ASAP for my Droc, got a show this Sat and wanted to replace the strings on my bass. I ordered a set of Rotosounds someone told me and yeah they are too short 
. so any help would be greatly appreciated even an Amazon link would help. It’s for a 4 string Droc. Thanks guys !
I’ve looked for Long scale bass strings on Amazon and I keep getting 5 string sets which I’ll get and just discard the B if the other 4 fit. I’m just nervous now. I have a set of Elixirs which say “Long Scale” but I’m not sure now if those would be long enough…

Amazon has D’Addario NYXL in super long scale with prime shipping. For the future, I would recommend either Dingwall or Payson strings. They’re both specifically made for multi scale basses so you never have to worry about them being long enough. They sound great, too.

G#C#G#C#F#B. Dingwall (red pack) .130 on the low string when I’m playing on my own. Even when I tune to low F to accommodate an eight string guitar player I prefer those strings, FC#G#C#F#B. I don’t care for .170.
