I’ve been using the .170 again for the last week. Conversations here got me to try it again and I’m liking it much more than my first attempt. Pick or fingers are both fine.
I agree with P Cheen, clarity is all in the EQing when going that low.
Your attack matters. Especially with a B string dropped to F like I was doing / preferred. Light palm muting helps. Compression and distortion are your friend.
What i am told is compression, distortion and cutting your lows and even low mids. Boost high mids. When playing super low tuning it is not about the fundamental at all. Rather the illusion.

Well, a couple days ago I heard that my D-Bird’s pickup threaded insert is fixed, and finalized how I want the refinish to go.

Hey Dingwall family, over the past several days I’ve been pondering whether to let go of my black forest green NG3. I’ve been combo amp shopping for quite some time now and I’m realizing it’s a bit tricky to get some more ‘versatile’ tones out of the Dingwall. I’ve also been quite frustrated with string experimentation. If there’s anybody here interested in a 4-string NG3 that’s drop G ready and is only about 2 months old, feel free to DM me.

Ok so I like to mod basses…and I think I’m about to commit a sin with my Droc.
I want to wire all my pups in series. But I’m interested in how the neck pup and the bridge pup sound in series. Solo’d and together. Yes just like a Tbird. I know I know I’m committing a sin but I’m really curious as to how it would sound.
has anyone tried this ? If so what are your thoughts ? Or if anyone has wired their pups to all sit in series if so how did it sound ?

Wiring the pick ups in series is easily done and reversible. Give it a go.
Is there anyone who would have a wiring schematic to see how this would even be done ?

And even for experimentation purposes just give the leads a nice twist and tape them up. This way you can undo it simple enough while experimenting.

I wanted to see about running the neck pup and bridge pup in series at the same time. Im hoping I’ll be able to do that once I rewire them.
oh I’ll def do that, I’d like to see how running the neck and bridge pup in series at the same time would sound.
