I like the AB neck, but I wouldn't mind a bit more girth to it. (That what she said)

If you want more girth then the Z in not the way to go. It’s more slender.

Right now I’m contrasting 2 comfortable necks primarily. TheZ… and then a tree trunk Spector!! Hahah.

Tree trunk is relative. What kind of tree and how old is it? 1 month maples are pretty thin.

I think I just bought a Sunburst DRoc5 from Bass Central.

So I want to change the electronics in my afterburner and I am going for the Glockenklang, but I am not sure what to do exactly, the options I have come up with in my head is:
- A clean replacement with two band preamp
- A clean replacement with 3 band stacked preamp (although new knobs or knob would be needed)
- A modified replacement with 3 band preamp. The now superfluous active/passive switch replaces the 4-way rotary switch. The switch would be two way, both pickups series and both pickups parallel.
- A modified replacement with 3 band preamp. Remove the switch and move the rotary switch to its place.
- Buy a new bass.

Any thoughts on this?

I used to think that but I don't know really, what I do with tone-control is usually to have it all the way open/up if that makes sense. Not really utilizing it I suppose.

If it’s not a major thing to you then I’d go for the stacked 3 band for simplicity sake

My second vote would be to remove the switch and install as per current 5 knob layout changing the vol to a push/pull if passive tone was important.

Ultimately… I’d definitely not sell that bass though but consider an addition to the family.

Since opinions are free, yeah I'd vote for a standard layout too, but maybe put passive tone as a push pull on the treble rather than vol so it's more out of the way.

I may not have worded it correctly but as per the standard layout the volume is the push/pull active/passive and the treble is the passive tone control. This is what I meant.

I do like this alternative, the only problem i feel is it being kind of a invasive since it would require drilling a larger hole to replace the switch, according to my eye measurements at least.
