They are the Jonas Hellborg signature set. They are only available on 4str format. They have a round core and a single nickel wrap for each string (0.40, 0.60, 0.80, 0.100). IMHO they really are nice strings (much better than boomers or other nickels I've tried)

I am the proud owner of a 3rd hand 2004 Dingwall Afterburner I five string, Whale Pool Burst. I bought if from my friend JEDI BASS who graciously allowed me to borrow it and evaluate which bass I would order from Dingwall. I was shocked and delighted when he offered it up for sale to me (perhaps he has his tasteful eye on an equally beautiful DW, but as the proud owner of my first, I arrive here with one question?

May I please be assigned a number in this ever growing owners club?

Thanks to everyone on TB, especially the Dingwall owners who suffered through my inane questions with grace and fortitude!

Thanks Fullie, I should have waited two more basses and gotten a number to match my years of age. (or I should have gotten off my keister and gotten one two years ago for my present age). Wait, that wouldn't work either. Math makes my head hurt this early.

Hello everyone,

I hadn't come across this club thread before, so I will be the newest member of the Dingwall club -- but I have been playing a 1993 Prima 5 prototype as my main bass since late '99 or early 2000.

I have been enjoying the wide array of Dingwalls in the club -- especially the fabulous members of the fullrangebass family! I have yet to see them all, but I just saw a family photo was in the works.

FRB - In an older post you had acquired what looks to be another prototype, maybe even older than mine. It has a mahogany core and larger frets, but it has pickups perpendicular to the strings.

Mine is similar, but it has the pickups angled with the fan. It has the black headstock with Sheldon's sig in gold paint pen.

I just got a new camera, so I will need to get some pics of it to post soon.

Anyway, I'm glad that I found the group -- and look forward to talking fanned frets and getting to know everyone!

Hi Jason. Here is your Club number.

The family picture is still on the works (too much of a workload here); Clark-don Kent-wall (another imaginary character consisting of Clark Kent and Sheldon Who) can only deal with the fanned basses when his work allows him to do so. But when it's night time, he reveals his true Fullie character and spends time with his Dingwalls in his Dingwall-land (oops, I got carried away; this one comes up in the next episode ;)). This week it will happen though

I need to check out the SN of this Voodoo bass you are referring to (is it the black one or the curly maple top one? I suppose it's the second)

Please upload Dingwall pictures soon or your membership will be suspended (and I will take your Club number instead :p:hiding::p:hiding::p:hiding:)

I'm happy that I passed her on to you, Jeff. After seeing how much you wanted a Dingwall (especially after playing one LOL), and knowing that she wasn't getting the attention she deserved from me.... it was an easy decision.

Thanks again Jody! I can't get over how many tone variations you can get out of this bass. Like you, I'm pretty much a set it and forget it kind of player, but I have to admit the slap switch is addictive. I'm really having to adjust my aggressive tendencies, I've gotten used to baseball bat sized necks and high action. Thankfully I was already used to fanned frets, so there was no learning curve there.

I'll take good care of her, anytime you need to borrow her for recording just give me a shout!

So that's where the "mate" to mine went! I've always been afraid to touch a six string. The first time I played a fiver, all my four strings were suddenly obsolete, I can't afford for the same thing to happen to all the five strings I have now!

Thats a beautiful bass, enjoy!

I have tried other 6str basses from off-the-shelf to custom made, only to find them uncomfortable. When I got my first Prima 6str I found myself playing effortlessly (another two Prima Artist 6str have been acquired since then, to verify the original verdict!!!;))

You know, thats a great line, I'll try it on my wife in a few months, you know, Honey I need to verify this is the most awesome bass I've ever played, so I need to get another one.:hyper:
