This is from my Dbird. They should be identical to a Droc. It’s 100% stock. I don’t know how much they’ll help you because it’s hard to photograph that mess of spaghetti wiring but here you go:

:laugh: :laugh: :laugh: I got a kick out of playing the same metal player's signature bass (NG-2) to praise God for a couple of years. Loved soloing the neck pickup with the bass rolled back a bit. :bassist:

Related to this, I very recently got a Darkglass Infinity and I’m trying to get some good metallish sounds out of it. I don’t generally like playing with high gain tones, and I tend to hate scooped sounds. So I’m having trouble judging what tones out of the Infinity will sit in the mix, cut through the mix, or get totally lost in the mix.

I’ve been able to get decently aggressive sounds playing the NG3 by playing with a pick and eqing the sound. The Darkglass sounds really good, but the hugeness of the sounds is not something I am used to. I like fat, punchy, and tight sounds, but can I use aggressive and bright but cleanish sounds without a mid scoop in this kind of music? I mean, I know I can, but is there a reason I don’t hear that from other bands?

The style is a bit like Tool, Alice In Chains, NIne Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, etc.

I feel like I get a similar sound to what you describe you are after with a Microtubes X pedal. I like the simplicity of it and keep the drive low.
Ultimately as long as you and the band are happy with your sound and you can hear yourself you can do anything you want. It’s metal after all, push boundaries and be as different as you like… as long as it works

So many disappointments.
#1 Modulus Quantum 5, on the heavy side, flat neck, BLAND, the only bass I didn't even try to work with, gone in 1 week.
#2, Sadowsky Vintage 5s. First was a beautiful, older with Barts, light, nice neck, horrendous dead spots in 3 places, including the A on the E string. 2nd was a lovely, light, flawless NYC V5, bland tone. I tried for several years. Last straw was when I auditioned for a Classic Country band, they hired me, but asked if I had another bass I could play. Sold at a big loss.
#3 Fbass, supposed to be a Jazz bass on steroids. Not as light as advertised, bland tone to me (turns out I'm just not a Jazz bass guy). I tried 2, neither stayed long.
#4 Most Fenders, including my '66J of 39 years, and my ordered by me CS NOS '59P, and others along the way. The only one that did it for me was a '76 P with cream SD PUPs, what a tone beast, it had IT. But at 10 lbs +, as a gigging bassist, not a studio musician.....

Now play J and P bodies with P necks, Thunderbird PUPs and a couple of Dingwalls and finally, all is well. After 54 years, no more gas!
