The thing that I am noticing is just how even and balanced the notes sound no matter where you are on the fretboard. I don't believe that it's possible for a standard scale/ fretted bass to achieve this. It's much more than just clarity on the B. I don't believe I will ever be satisfied with any standard bass again. I am kicking myself a little bit because I did not realize this when I briefly had a Dingwall 4 string years ago. I truly believe that I dismissed it because it was different before realizing just what I had. Live and learn they say.

So, anybody successfully using a Nordy mute? Did you modify it?
For mine to sound good, it has to barely be attached. Ever time I use it with my SJ4, I think about reaming out/widening the space for the strings some so that I can push it all the way down (it’s kind of precariously attached and can fall off easily right now).

I actually do like a bloody mary every once in a while so I think Ill give the caeser a try sometime!

Does anyone have info or recommendations on body wood? Swamp Ash vs Black Limba. What about neck? I saw the interview Ivan did with Sheldon and he mentioned that new roasted Northern Ash was now the listed neck they make, thoughts?
I'm looking to go light but also want to account bang for the buck.
I'd appreciate any info or advice.

I do recommend checking the difference between the specs on the website or doing some serious searching thru this thread. There is a lot of coverage of your questions already answered.
the ABZ is the lightweight model in the line up. That said, it’s specifically selected lightweight pieces of ash with a this satin finish.
If you change the body wood you may automatically have to select an AB1 anyways due to finish. If you add an Xtop you’ll be looking at changing the weight yet again.
AB1 factor spec is an Alder body.
So far the Roasted Ash neck seems to have purely awesome reviews. I would make note with your dealer to relay that you want the bass to be weight conscious and to discuss lightweight spec options with Dingwall specifically.
