Dingwall Owners Club

Hi, Team Dingwall.

I have the opportunity to pick up a used Sklar semi-locally. I plan to get my hands on it and see if I gel with the neck and fanned frets. What I don't have a good handle on is value.

Just as a piggyback, the 2 pickup Sklar is on the 2022 Dingwall price sheet as $5,820 USD. This will likely go up soon, if yearly updates are what yearly updates are.

Current value is nebulous and negotiable - these are in 2 year backorder. Most sellers know this and might expect a premium. It always seems like they ask high but will come down a bit.

Pretty! A blueberry Sklar! Those are Super Fattie pickups.

The Sklars are upper end Dingwalls. You might search the TB ads and find more pricing info.

Maybe tell us how much the seller is asking and where it is located, ....and somebody here will snatch it up:drool:;)

Maybe a hint at the asking price and you’ll get opinions as to whether it’s high or low.

My best buy on a used Dingwall was a local, cash and carry deal. Sometimes you get lucky!

YOLO, and you get to test drive it. What’s money for?
Depending on condition if you got it for $3k-3500 USD you’d be pretty darn good shape.
It ultimately is a version of a Z series and that alone should price it close to the $4500- 5k USD mark under normal circumstances however they do seem to sell for lest then more unique Z series basses.

I've gotten two basses from them.

An older ABZ that a previous owner refinished. They posted very deceptive pics that made the finish look much better than it actually was. The set up was trash.

My current #1 Dingwall came from them as well. Shipped in a low quality box with no packing material. The gig bag was beat up from the trip. I'm fortunate the bass wasn't damaged.

If that Sklar was from another seller, I might have bought it. I'll never buy another bass from that shop.

Ha! Oh, I know!
I’ve stared at the partial picture obsessively. Wondering how the black limba will look… Every glimpse is special. The excitement is real and I feel so fortunate!
There’s at least three of us, that I know of, keenly watching this current crop of basses going through the build process, all very, very close to having our basses shipped. This thread is going to be a rapid fire of beautiful Dingwalls soon, 2 Z3s and an ABII, that I know of.

I just got an email from JFB! Dingwall tells him they should be ready to ship my Z3 on Monday!

So it’ll go from Saskatoon to New Hampshire (with, fingers crossed, relatively little customs delay), then he’ll give it a good once over (because JFB is the kind of dude who will make sure the bass is just right), then it has to come a couple thousand miles to get to me.

I’m going to guess (WAG) it’ll be in my hands between the holidays.

Oh man, original owner here. I've thought about that bass a lot since letting it go SOLD - FS: Dingwall Z3 and just recently placed a deposit for another Z3. Glad you still have it - you're a much smarter man than I am :).

Glad to see you’re still around here, moorebass! Yeah, I don’t know that I can part with it or I’d feel the same regret that you have suffered over these many years. Glad you’re getting another Z3 to help ease the pain, though. Other than playing the hell out of it the only thing I’ve done to it since I bought it from you was change the knobs. Here’s a pic of its current configuration.
