To be fair, I do have two up for sale, but the math checks out-ish. Dating back to 10/21.
The reality is i'm in 4 different bands with 3 different tunings. I prefer flats for my reggae band so that has its own bass. I have a standard tuned NG3 with rounds, one NG3 a full step down, and my 6 is ACGCFBb. So really only 4 are in full rotation.
I thought I had the DAR hard with five since January 2021. It will be six, though, when my F#0 NG3 6 arrives sometime in the next month.
Is now the time to mention that I kind of want to get a black D-Roc and set it up for BEAD?
To say nothing of the plan to put down a deposit in the fall for a fretless ABZ 6.
And lord help me if they drop the import Supers that so many of us want to see.
OK.. so.... To me, the KK3 is a cool departure from than the NG or Combustion. I've only had limited playing time on it (still trying to ease it into the lineup, for my safety lol), it still needs a small tweak or two for my liking. The neck honestly feels a little slimmer front-to-back than my NG's but that might just be an illusion. All the guts are top notch components. Preamp is only 9V tho.. The preamp vol is set lower than passive so I still need to adjust that. Pickups are pretty high - I like them more near Sheldon's recommendations in the setup vid, we will see what that does to the sound as a whole after adjusting.
First impression - highly versatile right out the gate without the DGTC, much rounder with the Nordstrand. The wenge board might have a play in that - its certainly not as "wide sounding" as maple/maple. Very clean all the way up and down.
Round... that's the best term I can use with the limited playtime. Passive seems a little more "aggressive" than active, but that could also be to the lower output of the preamp currently. Very nice so far!

Life goals. at one point I wanted to custom spec 1 of each model. I did wander from that goal but sure have ended up with a few dingwalls along the way… of almost each model.
It’s a doubtful statement to say I won’t acquire anymore either!!
I don’t Have much GAs/DAS anymore having definitely more then what I need but definitely what I already want.
It really is hard to find anything else exciting for sale when your already rockin some killer Dingwalls.
My guess is Dingwall will release headless Combustions before they release import supers. Who knows, maybe they release both at NAMM this year.
Have there been any QC concerns with the China produced combustions? Doesn't seem much reporting of issues when I search around the internet, but anecdotally I tried one in a shop and the pickups seemed to cut out at times - so wondering if that's a one off.
Good afternoon guys question, I am lucky enough to finally get my hands on a Dbird, via a trade. Now I’m not a huge fan of the color and have considered getting it stripped and repainted. I was just curious if anyone could tell me what color this is name wise and what is the paint job made of ?
I was considering stripping it myself but need to know what the paint is so if I take that route I can use proper methods without incurring any damages to the instrument. Thanks !

I’d guess that the aquamarine sparkle has a 2k clear coat.
My Dbird has the blue purple color shift, kind of a matte finish, no hard clear coat. It’s pretty thin, but looks great. Wears easily at contact points but the wear, so far, just looks shiny.
Once you know for sure, a pro painter will be able to give you options for repainting. Maybe save all the hassle and labor of going with a full strip. A body shop should be able to handle it.
I’m curious to find out what they are using. If I was to spring for a refinish, I’d go with a medium flake gold with a clear coat. Maybe some ghosted flames or a bit of WW2 vintage pinup water slide to spice it up even more.

Well I figured I’d see what the wood color is underneath the paint job and go with a black burst or just maybe do a dark taint job. Nothing fancy just something dark.
Ooooo. The ole Dark Taint!! I’d be really curious how that turns out!!
There are so few of the aqua sparkle d-birds out there it would be a real shame to refinish it.
