I received my Z3 build over the weekend and it’s my favorite Dingwall so far! I couldn’t be happier! So glad I went natural with this one!

That spalted maple almost has an internal light of its own, and the shades of brown are excellent complements to each other. Very classy!

So here's a form and function update to my NG3.

I'm guessing some of you have already obtained the Neck Illusions inlay stickers for your Dingwall Combustions. With the bare fingerboard, I had issues with orientation in the upper register. When I got my ABI with Speedos, having the reference points really helps. Now I have the same thing with my NG3. Also, I think the purple/black swirls look pretty cool too.

I’d agree visually BUT it’s not cheap like the )1700 CAD cheaper option and I bet the “ugly” one (its visually boring to me) has some mojo… just cause it ugly. Lol

Hey guys need some help, so I wanted to lower the neck pup on my Dbird. When I tried to lower it, went to a certain point then stopped. The screw just kept turning but noticed the pup would actually raise a bit. Tried this several times with the same outcome. So I unscrewed it and noticed the screw had what seems to be a retainer under the pup which was in the wood. This retainer seems to be a guide for the screw. So now question is do I glue the retainer back in ? If not not sure where to go with this, any ideas or anyone have this happen to them. I’ve included pics, the one with two screws is the one that was in the retainer (right one) and one from a different pup

Interesting ,I just looked that up. So you went this route to draw out more upper mid specifically ?

If so , did an outboard pre amp not do that for you?

If I don't like how a bass sounds directly into an amp for my always on tone I won't want to play it. I went down the crazy pedal rabbit hole and it was a mess, especially when swapping different basses meant readjusting everything

I've heard of this happening before. I don't recall what the remedy was, sorry. It never hurts to consult Dingwall in these situations...

I wouldn’t use gorilla glue, that expands. Crazy glue I’ve used on broken wood knobs, it cleans up nicer. I would ask Dingwall what to use, contact info below.

For the difference in price you can have it pained any colour you want, twice

As a few others have said email Dingwall, wood glue might work but a proper repair would more likely be to drill out and dowel. This has happened a few times to people on the facebook group and I remember Sheldon commenting so maybe do a search on there if you have access.

I had this happen on my SJP. It had stripped the wood so it wouldn't hold anymore...

I lined the hole with some toothpicks to give the insert some meat to grab onto. I put he screw into the insert a little ways and put a small amount of glue around the insert. Using the correct size allen wrench (the red one i believe) i gently tapped the screw head to push the insert back into the hole. Once it was flush, i removed the screw to let it dry. Then i cleaned up the tooth picks, and reassembled. No issues since.

I hope that made sense.

EDIT: I should mention that I did trim back the tubing so i could lower the pickup to my desired location before reassembly...
