When I ordered my SJ back in November of 2019 (arrived May 2021) I was told Y keys were the standard, which is great because that's what I wanted.

Makes sense on the Super J. Wonder what the standard is on Super P. Unless they did the SP in a no-pickguard version I think Y keys would look out of place to me.

I'm thinking that if you pull an SP with a flashy finish out of your bag at a gig, the last thing anyone is going to be noticing is what kind of tuner buttons are on it!

By default, Canadian Supers with black hardware get Y keys, and Canadian Supers with chrome hardware get clover keys. But that of course can be changed at the time of ordering since they are all custom.

It's not so different to my SJ, albeit mine has black hardware and yours has chrome. I greatly prefer the Y tuners to the clovers.

Well, all this conversation made me remember I had a spare set of Hipshot clovers in my parts drawer, so I just gave it a shot. What do you think? Y or Clover?

I like the Y’s on everything else. Wait, maybe the Dbirds should have clovers too.

My natural choice would be clover for a SP/J but with the blackout h/s, I prefer the clean look of the Y’s. Very nice bass.
