I've heard in a Sheldon interview and also from John (from JohnFoxBass) that the P-tone is supposed to be wired in series only.

100% the P-tone sounds weedy and awful in parallel. When I first put one in a Combustion it was wired wrong and sounded terrible and weak compared to the parallel setting on the FD3s

Is that blue layer dyed wood or plastic? Either way, it really adds a lot to the look. Looks fantastic contrasted against the white.

It's not the color scheme I'd choose, but it's flawlessly implemented.
And I still want to hear a demo of the Neve preamp...especially compared to the other onboard preamp options

I'm sure it's very subtle, frequencies are supposed to be Bass: +/- 12db at 20Hz and Treble: +/- 12db at 4.4KHz.

Subtle is exactly what I'm looking for; the less it messes with the sound of my bass the better.
But it's tough to tell what the preamp itself is adding when the pickup selector and series/parallel switches offer such a wide variety of starting points.

I'm in a similar boat. On the wait list and debating on "All I will probably use is passive mode and maybe S/P switches" vs "I don't want to feel remorse for waiting X months and 'needing and not having' vs 'having and not needing.'"

Just preamp in general. Active/Passive vs. Passive really. Though of the preamp options the Neve is most attractive to me.

Preamp with a passive tone control gives you the best of both.

I’ve had 3 of them and none of them lacked treble. That said I always found the all 3 pickup setting too dark for my taste so I used middle solo 99% of the time.

Probably worth checking your strings, twisted strings or tight nuts can cause bad sound.

I checked the Demo of Amos on youtube and my D Roc Sounds almost exactly like that. Maybe I´m just used to active eqs and Ray Like Humbucker (It´s my first passive Bass in ages)

And - do D Rocs really lack of treble? The Treble Pot is working find, but even on 100% it is very dull (New d´addario Nickel Super Long Scale)

My D Bird had plenty of zing. Have you tried stainless steel strings yet?

...and it's nice that you can use the passive tone in combination wih the active preamp.
