Dude! One of the few Burgundy Mist Dingwalls in the wild - it's a beauty!!! My Colaburst SJ5 is a tone monster.

No, he ordered one from Dingwall at some point after me.

This one actually bounced around to at least three of my friends before it ended up settling with somebody in Northern California. I think his might have a matching headstock as well.

It looks like tomorrow's high temp in Saskatoon is forecasted to be -8F with a low of -22 F. Our lows here(Cali coast) have been in the high 20's(above zero)and it's been causing neck and tuning issues for some of my fellow bandmates. For me it's quite nice to take the Dingwall out of the bag, check the tuning and have it be dead-on as always.

I hadn't played a Super J since I sold off my early Super J a couple months after receiving it. Besides the finish not being what I wanted on the first one, the main reason I sold it because I thought the solo'd bridge pickup was lacking. I remember reading that Sheldon had revised the bridge pickup at some point to be more aggressive. Assuming that's true, between the new pickup, the Glock pre and the extra string, this one seems to be killer. Its got that active jazz sizzle that you expect from boutique Jazz basses with the playability of a Dingwall. Super exciting! The pickguard will eventually be replaced with Black Pearl or Tort at some point, but want to make sure I plan on keeping the JJ setup first.

Under my tree, besides a couple of very content cats, is a package of goodies from Bassstringsonline.com. Some Payson Reduced Core nickel roundwounds, some Gruv Gear fretwraps, a little planet waves LED tuner/metronome, and a couple single C strings. Stocking stuffers!

If you guys haven't tried them yet, Bassstringsonline does a killer job. Great service and pricing, free shipping. They have a section dedicated to fanned fret multi scale basses. There you will find strings that fit your Dingwall.

The Payson reduced cores are working very well for me. These are slightly stiffer than the medium lights, as you would expect from a set with larger diameters, but not as stiff as the first sets of nickel rounds. Either set works for me, I'm leaning towards the Reduced Core. No adjustment between the sets, the Payson strings go right on.

We're dealing with unusually frigid weather for the Pacific NW. Instead of the average rainy 30's and 40's the past couple weeks have been super dry and cold. Tonight's low is forecasted at 4 F. I actually had to take a little off the truss rod on sixer, the first weather related adjustment ever for one of my Dingwalls. We're getting a little taste of Canada. The upside is the snow on the mountain is super cold, dry and light and I'm rocking my warm Dingwall hat.
