I just remembered…. Ive been avoiding my office and doing dumb things in the garage.

this is pretty rough to even be posting but I just found this beside the coloured one I showed earlier.

hopefully it’s useful enough for the dingwall colouring book

I’d hope someone with computer abilities could do something better but it’s all I got for ya right now.

Playing around with my airbrush. Traced the Dbird, cut out the shape and used it as a template for another page. I think the Dbird would look cool in a metallic silver with WW2 style pinup nose art.
Unfortunately, my artistic vision far exceeds my current airbrush skills. So the Dbird is safe, for now.

But, yeah, fun stuff!

Damn. Guitar Center has a used Z3 6string, but, it looks pretty beat condition (it's not that famous one with the fretboard chunk, but similar looking) and they're asking $5500 for it. Tried calling to see if they'd work down on that and they said "not right now". Kinda wanna it, but only if they come way down on the price.

I think a smaller pinup, but placed somewhere else, would potentially look better. Especially if you want to take cues from say, war planes.

if it’s the same one I’m thinking I wouldn’t pay $5k CAD for it.

Yeah. If it was an agreeable price, I'd have it shipped to a local store, so if I didn't want to keep it or found other issues, I'd just instantly return it there. I think this would have to come down under $4k for me to start having real interest in it.

I feel like some TBers have actually seen that one in person and passed due to the price and condition.

I bought a bass sight unseen from GC and it was surprisingly super positive. I feel like that’s the exception to the rule with GC though.

I had a positive sight-unseen used bass purchase from GC online as well. Knowing that GC has an easy and extended return policy, I rolled the dice and got a touchdown. Or a goal. Or whatever a good roll of the dice is.:D

That said, I would never recommend anyone to order anything used online from GC. The system is slow and inept, which is a perfect complement to the staff that service the transaction.

As we all know, the photos are so bad that they have to be that bad on purpose. Simply an environment too tacky and cheap to buy with confidence unless you have a trusted person examine an item in-hand or are ready to go through the hassle of a return.

Hey all,

Just picked up my first Dingwall (a 2016 Afterburner I) used which arrived from abroad for me. It's got a wenge neck and fingerboard. I've noticed that there is significantly more relief on the bass side compared to the treble side. Is this normal for multiscale instruments?

This concerns me because I'm worried that the neck may have twisted/warped during shipping.

No it is not normal, depending on how much you are considering it different between one edge of the fretboard to the other. Any way you can show pics with a fret action gauge such as the pic below?

I've had 6 Dingwall basses all Canadian (I stirred away from the made in Pago-Pago ones) and I have never come across a warped neck even after a long haul flight. If it is warped it would have been so from day one and I am sure the factory wouldn't ship a dodgy neck

If it is truly and badly warped it will be an expensive fix, a qualified luthier would need to de-glue and remove the fingerboard, and level the neck with heat pads under special heating clamps, rarely they'll have to sand the excess warping but sometimes the heating clamps can fix a warped neck. Unfortunately this thing will cost you no less than £600-£700 in UK whichever is the equivalent in your country (Cyprus?)

So I got some measurements for the string action and the relief.

Relief (measured at the 7th fret with a capo on the 1st fret and me pressing down on the fret where the neck meets the body.
- B string (it's a 5er) 0.60 mm or 1/32"
- G string 0.30mm or 1/64"

Action measured at the 12th fret with no capo.
- B string 2.50 mm
- G string 1.75 mm

I've attached some pictures of the action gauge as you requested.

What do you think?

Does the discrepancy affect the playing experience? I could see a little more relief on the bass side being advantageous, assuming the neck is stable.
