As dumb as it sounds, I'm pretty put off by the block inlays haha. That's kind of blocking me from buying it. Plus I have a red AB1 already.

A little update on my ABII and the scratchy knobs.
So, I emailed glockenklang a while ago and sent them the same video I showed here, showing how the potentiometers and knobs work on my bass.
They got back to me and recommended me a product they use at their shop and showed me where to buy it.
So I did.
Today I have used it on the bass and... It helped! All knobs are now nicely lubricated, they don't have that heavy feel to them anymore, though. But they turn very nicely.
So... Yeah. Yay!

Hoping to breathe some new life (and thereby, inspiration) into my mainstay 2002 AB1 5. Ordered a P-Tone & SFII from John Fox without doing my research and realized what apparently so many others have before me: Dingwall changed their pickup shape some years back. My bass still has the original FD-1s (see image below)...
I'm very much opposed to routing this bass to fit the current pickups and I'm not wild about drilling new holes, as I understand the intervening design was the Bartolini P2 shape with 3 screws.
I've been in communication with Dingwall and they've offered to house a P-Tone & SFII in direct replacement shells, if I can supply them (because they're amazing, as we all know). After spending weeks scouring the internet for existing parts that might work and coming up short, I'm currently testing some somewhat unorthodox home fabrication methods (I'm a crafty lil elf) but it occurred to me to check in here as there's no way I'm the first to go through this struggle.
Does anyone know of a source for pickup shells in this shape/format?

Have you tried Nordstrand? not sure if they would sell just the covers but probably worth an email.
As I understand it, Nordstrand's "Dingwall" pickups are for traditional (parallel fret) basses wanting a more "Dingwall"-esque tone. Is that incorrect?
They make their own shells is what I'm thinking and they have many options.
They do also make Dingwall pickups for parallel fret basses and pickups for Dingwall basses.
Thanks, I'll check into it! I'm a fan of their other pickups in a couple of my other basses. My only reservation is that all of their soapbars seem to be the Bartolini P2 format with 3 screws and I'm trying to avoid drilling more holes if at all possible. But I'll check in with the shop and see if they have any suggestions. Thanks again!
What about Bartolini? Have you checked with them for shells ?
Another good suggestion, but I'm trying to avoid drilling new holes if at all possible. Current pickups have 2 screws: 1 each in opposing corners. Bartolini P2 (same shape/format that is used by Nordstrand and was used by Dingwall between the current generation and that of mine) uses 3 screws: 2 in corners on bass side & 1 in center of treble side.
Basically, I'm looking for a unicorn of a perfect solution and want to exhaust all possible options before making any modifications to the wood of the instrument.
