Also, shoutout to @gustobassman for answering all my PMs when I was putting a DG TC in a bass and needed a second set of knowledgeable eyes on my wiring diagram. The bass isn’t a Dingwall, but it sounds great; I used a no-load tone pot so when it’s at max, it’s like it isn’t even in the circuit.

I think the passive tone should be a feature of the DG TC. It’s good without it, but it’s amazing with it.

Very cool! Do you just replace the Dingwall knobs with a new set which includes a stacked pot knob?

I like the NG3 but thought about how I might revoice it a bit by replacing the neck and bridge FD3 with SFII pickups and add a passive tone to the Darkglass TC. I think it would be a little fatter and smoother while still having plenty of presence.

If you want, but I sourced a stack knob set that closely matches the original smoked chrome knobs. The knurl pattern is slightly different, but no one would really notice. Jason at FN sells them with or without the stack knobs.

Im glad it worked out for you!! :bassist: I totally agree that the DGTC is killer with a passive tone. Debating on making the vol a push pull on my NG3 6'er and enlarging the switch hole for a passive tone. The bass has the canadian knobs and I do have one extra knob... :bag: :roflmao:

I'm thinking about setting up my Z to have the last spot on the rotary be the middle solo instead of the bridge and still have the proper functioning of my 3x coil switching.

Anyone run a P Tone in the middle?

Looking for thoughts on both those ideas.

Do you mean you're selling your stacked volume/tone knob on FN? Not seeing it there and wish I knew about that before getting my rotary knob switched, could've had it done at the same time heh

If people have to dm you to get one, that's cool too... Definitely interested in adding it down the road

I have never like the bridge soloed sound (I don't have a 3x, mind you), so I would definitely do that switch.

P.S the new Levy's Cirro strap in 3" is great. Super comfy and high quality, and it has a pick holder on the front which is helpful for someone like me that uses all kinds of techniques but doesn't want to put a pick holder on their bass to be able to grab one mid song.

It's also got a suede backing and the padding is better imo than the Levy's 4.5", mono betty, couch, and Gruv neo solo straps I have. Plus it looks classy in black with this bass!

I’ve made a few straps similar to that. It’s definitely the easiest, sleekest way for adjustment. The option was a buckle on the back. More work to make it though.

Holy hell, what a bass. Only had a few minutes to plug in and play, but it's such a rock and roll machine.

I could probably live with just the middle and mid+bridge selections. All 3 is also cool. Bridge solo... I dunno what they were thinking with that. Suddenly, I understand the appeal of a 6-position switch, but I won't go down that road. The beauty of having multiple Dingwalls is that I can just pick up a different one when I want a particular sound.

I got one of these through GC last year with the same bridge.

I really enjoyed it, but I ended up returning it because I really didn't NEED it at the moment, but I could've used the cash.

I'll probably end up with a D Roc at some point.

The upgrades on the bass made it such an insane deal - Payson bridge and black Hipshot tuners; no smoked chrome! I'd actually chatted with Rob (@beatdatthang) at the start of 2024 about buying it, but then got sidetracked, forgot about the conversation, then immediately swooped in to snag it when he officially listed it here.

Underhill Dual Filter preamp. From front to back, controls are:
  1. Blend
  2. Volume, with push/pull treble booster (mixes in clean signal with 6khz HPF)
  3. Neck pickup low EQ, bottom ring is frequency (30-500hz), top is boost/cut
  4. Neck pickup LPF, bottom ring is frequency (200-5300hz), top is Q gain (up to 13db)
  5. Bridge pickup LPF, same as above
will get a switch soldered up so I can switch between Neck and Middle for the neck filter.
