Dingwall Owners Club

I know I just a got a Z a couple months ago, but I also know that by the time 3-ish years gets here I’ll certainly be wanting a companion Z. So I think it’s time to grab a slot.

Here’s what I’m thinking for specs:
  • Z3-6
  • Wenge neck/board
  • Maple burl top
  • Faded blue jean burst (reverse?)
  • Flamed maple contrast layer
  • Black w/ white ceruse back
  • Ghost speedos
  • Blue luminlay side dots
  • DG pre
  • FDV’s
  • Hipshot Xtender
For visual inspiration taken from other fellow TBers beautiful basses, basically take this bass and change the explosion burst to faded blue jean…

…like this, plus ghost speedos.

I haven’t seen a DW with these specs yet so it makes me think 2 things: 1) it’ll be unique! and 2) has it not been done because it won’t look good and I have a bad eye for design? lol. Thoughts? What do ya think?

Or I could just be happy with the one I have and save 11k Euros :p

Sounds like a solid build plan that will turn out quite nice.

I got the ghost speedos on mine and they look really sharp. It's one of my favorite things about the bass.

If you want reassurance on your purchasing plans, you've come to the right place.

Haha, yeah, I suppose if I really wanted someone to tell me no this would not be that place. :D

Your bass was actually one that inspired me for this build as well! I loved the look of the ghost speedo’s with the blue. Great match!

Thanks!

Looking forward to seeing your new Z in a few years!

Sheldon said end of the year but whether that’s order time or shipping time isn’t clear. Best to ask your local dealer, there are a few in Quebec.
Contacted a local dingwall retailer and said he would contact them directly and get back to me with any info in regards to the release date/time etc… of the import super p model.

Is there going to be a Jazz import model?
I’m gonna ask that in person when I go to the Dingwall event in Frankfurt by the end of April.

I assume they’ll want to perfect the production of the SP1s before launching a new model, though.

Last I heard they were targeting Q1 2025 for the import Super Ps which isn't terrible in compared to a 2-3 year wait for a custom so Im hoping to have one in my hands by this time next year.

There are no offical pre-orders yet but Bass Central & JFB both have interest lists for when pre-orders open up so hop on one of those.

I had my sweetwater rep ask Sheldon about an import Super J model when they dropped the Canadian Super J and the answer I got was something like "probably eventually but the shop has enough work as is to keep us busy for years" so dont hold your breath.

I love the blue jean finish. I don't know if I would reverse it because it looks so good the regular way. I find that finish looks really good on flamed maple. Everything else sounds really good (I'd go 5-string and SFII's for me personally). I look forward to seeing that one!

Sorry for the confusion I was inquiring about the import models.
Definitely interested in one of those, been wanting a dingwall P bass since they came out years ago but they are out of my budget especially ow with everything going for extremely high prices due to inflation.

so no exact date when they release them?
Are they going to be made in the same manner as the Nolly models?

I imagine they will be made offshore and set up back in Saskatoon like the rest of the production line.

it may not have been done yet, or it has… Either way, if it’s a spec that’ll make you happy then Rock it! If you want to spend those Euros that is too!!!

I often think about adding another Z but I also often think it’s ridiculous as I absolutely love the ones I have.

Just as an FYI the import line are significantly cheaper in Canada as we don't have the additional levy in the basses made in China. Anyone north of the border should use a Canadian dealer for the import line rather than pay a big upcharge.

I want to experiment with various pickups in different locations of my SJ5XXX.

I have 2 spare Dingwall Super 5 Ptone Pickups I will sell or trade. They have never been installed. I don't have any idea what the value of them is. Or what the asking price is for a Super 5 Fattie, FD3, or FDV is (I may have 2 FD3s to sell after experimenting).

Info via PM or here is fine.
