Considering Northern ash/Alder - did you have any info from Sheldon on that? I’ve never seen a super with dual density. Otherwise it will be alder.

Sounds like a great build! I debated back & forth between a 4 or 5. Some day I’ll order a 5 string

I’m not 100% sure about the dual density. I asked the shop when I placed my initial order and they agreed, but I am not sure if it’s listed as an official option or if they agreed because I’m an artist. I’m still waiting to get the bass in my hands to confirm this

I can just imagine the uglybursts some folks would request over some of those tops and it makes me sad, but to each their own! Some gorgeous pieces of wood for sure.

This is actually perfect. Slap a satin finish on it, or maybe a really subtle brown burst around the edge.

So I gotta give a shout out to the amazing necks on both the NG3's and the Z. Shape and the fanned frets. Here's why...

On monday I did this..


..tore my extensor tendon completely free from the tip knuckle. After seeing a hand specialist wednesday morning & getting dialed in, I was back at rehearsal that night. I nailed a 3+ hr gig last night using only 3 fingers on my fretting hand. The NG neck felt great last night, not bulky or unwieldy with only using 3 fingers. The Z 6'er? Even better.

As comparison, I picked up one of my Sadowsky basses and it was downright uncomfortable. The fanned DW necks make playing with an injury like this a little easier, less twisting of the hand into odd shapes to fret notes. Will it take a few weeks to really get 3 finger strength up? Absolutely. Much easier on a Dingwall tho...

This is my playing splint. I love it.

You’re in good company. I had a full rupture of the A2 pulley on the middle finger of my right hand last year. Taped it up and played a four hour NYE gig without issue on my SJ.

Wow, that does not sound fun. What ive noticed is that the little things are affected most - how i mute the strings, where i rest fingers while not in use, etc.. kinda trippy, lol

Exactly right. All of the tiny tweaks you have to make to things that have been committed to muscle memory for years make for an interesting gig. I don't know if this happened to you or not, but I missed a couple of cues on that gig because I was focusing so hard on what my finger was doing that the distraction took me out of the music for a beat... at the most inopportune moment

Yeah, I was overly focused on a couple of songs. I did miss a few things because I hadn't worked out how i would play it beforehand. Our catalog is deeeep, we dont use set lists (the reggae band) - I tried to run over what I *thought* we would play and curveballs were thrown .. Thank goodness dropouts are ok in reggae

damn dawg!! Curious what the final resolution with be for ya. I hope it’s good and smooth and with minimal pain.
I am not clumsy but I am often broken with the antics I pull(when not playing bass). I’ll be mighty pissed off if playing bass is what hurts me next.

I really like this cab. It is a good cabby. Light and sounds great, imho. Cool stuff, def worth the money.
