Hello Dingwall people,

Just received this beauty yesterday and couldn't be happier with it.
Sounds great and play great ! Coming from an Ibanez SR Premium, I was not sure I'll be really impressed by the overall ergonomics but damn was I wrong…. It's light (4.0 kg), super well balanced and the neck feels super smooth :-)

Aside from the pleasure of sharing my happiness, I wanted to take a moment for thanking you all… Originally I was saving money to buy something else (EBMM) but I end up following this thread also, mostly out of curiosity. Your enthusiasm and praises over Dingwall basses, pages after pages, led me to switch my mind toward an NG3 (although D-ROC was a very close contender ^^).

So I'd like to thank you all for making me change my mind :-)

Hey guys, I have a NG3 5-string that I use with my classic rock band. I like the general tone of the neck pickup for most of the material we play, but it sometimes gets lost in the mix. I'm going to try boosting the low mids in my next rehearsal to see how that goes. Honestly for this gig, I'd prefer to use my G&L P-bass but I need the B string for some tunes that we play in E-flat.

I'm curious for those of you who use a NG for classic rock kind of stuff, what pickup(s) do you like to use, and what EQ do you apply, if any?

I almost chased this one down when it first became available in Saskatoon and had some convo with the owner.

It is very unique and his goal was to give it a “classic” dingwall vibe with the blacked out headstock and a few other features.

The body is a one piece slab walnut with a roasted maple neck and ebony board.

It’s passive V/V/T/T with (I don’t recall this part very well) some active buffers(?)

I showed John and he ended up with it for a while then Luffy bought it. I believe it was after this that it may have ended up with Jason.

It’s such a unique dingwall. It’s like a modern relic almost.

It did have the active buffer circuit and the VVTT passive electronics. Now, it sports an Audere Pre, pickup blend, a way to completely bypass the Pre, and a tone knob that works in active/passive modes. It is super flexible in the current configuration. It was set-up for F# too.
The price was great, when I was ready to say EFF IT & make a bad financial decision it had sold a day or two earlier.

Maybe swap the neck pickup with a P-Tone? I love the P-Tone in my C5 neck position.
