Did a quick demo of my DROC. I'm no virtuouso so don't expect to have yourface melted 🤣
But I thought some of y'all might be interested in expanding the tonal variety of your DROC.

Forgot to add the description from YouTube
"
My lightly modded DROC. I played with the pickup placement and the four way switch to allow me Neck Solo, "Jazz", Middle Solo and DROC all in.
The Neck and Bridge pickups are SFII and the middle is the import neck pickup. I have a P tone that was in the place but I found I prefer the higher output of the import pickup.
The preamp is an Audere Classic 3 band. The top pot is Volume/Mid, center is the four way selector and bottom pot is the Treble/bass knob. It's a super compact set up with plenty of room in the cavity for the 9v battery.
Tuners are hipshot ultra lite and the one piece bridge is from Payson.
DR Strings, Black Beauty 50-110 tuned DGCF

Wanted to share this to encourage people to play around with their setups and see what kind of versatility they can unlock!"

@IvanBassist Thanks bro! That's just straight into an iRig. Normally I play through my ADAM or GX100 with the slightest bit of dirt and compression. I didn't think about it till just now but I should have done my pick tone as well with the bass boosted and mids about 50% no treble. These pickups are so bright I keep the treble off unless I wanna try to slap and I'll brighten it up a little.

Hello sirs, Ive received this Afterburner w/ a dg tonecapsule today and man what a tone monster, Thank you to @mikeowen17 for the smooth transaction. i love it so much that i decided to buy my son a NG3 from @ZombiiBass and my son is very excited for the NG3 to show up in the mail. May i ask whats the preamp installed on a NG3 and how does it differ from the tone capsule? Thank you and cheers!

That‘s a sweet AB, congratulations!

NGs were the original basses with the Tone Capsule, so the preamps will be identical. The NG will have non-domestic pickups (FD3N? someone correct me if I’m wrong, please), though, while there’s a range of pickups to choose from for Canadian custom orders: Yours will most likely have FD3 (similar to the NG‘s, neodymium magnets) or FDV (alnico) pickups. The third in-house choice would be Super-Fatties.

Hi - I'm looking for a hardshell case for a Dingwall D-Roc Standard 5. I'd appreciate suggestions for a "regular" hardshell case. Also, I am considering getting a TSA top-load case that could be used for 2 basses (the aforementioned D-Roc and a Combustion 5). I saw this case mentioned on another thread, but it's not ATA-compliant. ENKI Gen 3 AMG-2 Electric Bass Guitar Case

I don't know much about road cases, and could use some advice. Thanks!

Oh my god look at this beauty!!!

It's so light, and the weight balance is great.
The neck is very nice, both in width and thickness.
The sound is so unique too.
I think only dingwalls have a sound like this.

It's very expensive, but I can see why people are willing to pay for it.

This is the masterpiece.

Definitely some demos in the near future?
Lovely!

I had a milestone birthday recently and my lovely wife went above and beyond (and beyond again) with this amazing gift:

It’s a 2021 ABII, which was originally built for NAMM 2021 to show off Dingwall’s segmented fretlines for Dingwall’s fretless offerings. However, rather than going to the show, it instead had a new ovangkol neck built and was sent to the brilliant George Baldwin. Here it is in action being played far better than I could ever hope for:

Dingwall really helped me with this one, with Ryan (who I think frequents this forum) giving me the extra background, and Evan helping me find the strap I was looking for.

It joins an NG3 and D-Roc Custom but brings something else entirely to the table with its Glockenklang preamp and chambered walnut body.

Wow! You have an amazing bass and wife! 🎸 :)

I'm thinking of tuning my SJ5XXX E-C with a drop tuner, as I'm finally starting to notice a slowdown in fast runs (think War Pigs). My thought process being I'm pretty much only playing 4s with a drop tuner these days (transitioned from a Classic Country to a Classic Rock/Biker Rock band), with E-C, I can use the C string instead of going up the neck, thereby decreasing reach and slightly increasing speed.

Has anyone done this on a Dingwall, what were your results? Or does anyone else want to weigh in?

Well if you’re going with 4’s with a drop tuner mostly, I sure as mud know a great spot for your SJ5 to land. :smug:
