Sorry to be a tease, but I still haven't unzipped. ..
External inspection: nice LEVY'S bag with embroidered logo, seemingly identical in all respects to those that my fivers arrived in except for noticeably beefed-up carry handles. The additional bulk is a more comfortable fit in the hand and improves sustain.
Again, I'm sorry to tease, but as well as letting the bass warm, I am waiting for less sun-glare before attempting indoor natural light photography.
For goodness' sake. Take that things temperature already ! The suspense is killing us.

I packed up all the basses in the house with the exception of the SP5, SJ5, and the FRS P I leave on a stand in case stray visitors with instrument handling skills unknown to me want to gank on something. I'm about 90% sure it just took the place of the Super J and I have been camping that thing for the last couple of months.
Any idea how much space is between the FD 3 bridge PU and the reverse P?
I'd love to try this but I am not one of those guys that can play directly over pick ups. My finger tips touching them drives me nuts. If the FD has been moved forward as stated in the post a page back, I wonder if my sausages would have the room they need?

And light - 7lbs, 4oz. The neck is very comfortable. Naturally, a bit heftier than the SJ. I'd say it's stable. After the journey from Saskatoon, the setup was perfect, and all four strings were just a tad flat but otherwise in tune with each other.
You can see in the headstock shot how the fretboard is slightly darker than the neck wood - sweet. I played it a bit with the nickel strings, but had to restring with steels to get the clarity and impact I like up top. The sonic signature is similar to my (chambered) ash/maple SJ/P-5 which is nicely clear, bright, and punchy all over the board. This SP4, in comparison, is a bit more subdued and sweeter up top and packs even more punch. I've been playing along with some tunes with the Super P > Walkabout > JBL E140 in a Showman tone ring cab. It jumps into the mix with both feet. Nice. 
I'm totally diggin' the new headstock.

Very interesting, from a number of perspectives. Gave me real insight in to your taste in tone.
First, that color is to die for. Arguably one of the prettiest Super P's I have seen. Just classic surf colors.
I suspect you clearly like edge up top. I'm intrigued by running the stainless on the P but I like the nickels this far so I'll stick with them for now. I'll order four sets of the nickels as I am really curious to try them on the Super J.
I know you'll need a few gigs under your belt before sorting it, but I'd like to hear your commentary regarding Super P versus the P's in the J.
My Super P5 weighed in at 8 pounds 5 ounces, which is a mere 3 ounces under the SJ5 but feels far lighter.

Serial 5001. Thanks - brother Sheldon knows how to finely finish an instrument! My high frequency hearing is still good, but I do like having a lot of energy and presence in the mid and high end. That is a nice weight on your P. The tough part for me is not being able to play live through the main rig for two or three weeks while our leader recuperates (minor surgery on left wrist).

Finally, very nice colour, great combinantion with the maple neck, and you are blessed with the fact that it is beautifully light. You know I thought my ABZ5 was the lightest bass ever weighing at 7lbs, 6oz, which is just a little bit over your Super P, even considering the ABZ5 has a swamp ash body, 2 pickups instead of 1, an extra string and an extra tuning peg!
Dingwall makes some seriosuly light basses.

Well I just have two Dingwalls and I feel pretty blessed, especially for local hack.
Grand, I was having that exact conversation with Jonathan (Reiner Amplification) and Mark Robertson at Greenboy Audio. At no point have I ever felt that I was missing anything running passive. The basses sound simply amazing running passive.
I'll try and get some more pics up today.

I finalized things with the dealer yesterday afternoon, as my Christmas present to myself. It'll be fascinating to compare our two basses.
Thanks, brother. I'm giving Sheldon's re-imagination of the precision bass a grade of righteous. I purchased a black abalone pick guard blank from WD and planned to send it to JohnK in order to clone the w/b/w guard. After peeking under the guard and verifying that everything is ready to go for the 'reverse' pickup orientation, I'm going to ask him carve the abalone guard that way.
