Dingwall Owners Club

After being unsatisfied with a lot of other straps I took to making my own…. It’s really satisfying if you can make the time.
Time is one thing I don’t seem to have to play with this stuff anymore despite wanting too.

It’s really fun to pull some inspiration for the instrument you are pairing them with or other things.
Time is one thing, talent is another. Those are as good as any I've ever seen.

It's not public as far as I know. Your dealer has a copy.

For dealers, you don't HAVE to go to a local one as far as I know. It's encouraged to, but not mandated. Many folks go with JohnFoxBass and FretNation. I'm going with JFB for my current build.
I got the 2022 price list direct from Dingwall sales before a mint used LSS-5 showed up on marketplace. Maybe things have changed.

I did at one point and then life said “no way Jose.”

beside the lack of time there is really no money in it. It would just be for enjoyments. Most of them take around 20 ish hrs to make.

Perhaps more as a retirement gig. If life could slow down a bit it’d try to do one or 2 a year FS.
Sorta what I figured. I wish I had that talent, just not my forte.

I got a surprise when I installed a SFII in my SJ5XXX yesterday. A little background, I ordered it in Dec 2015, received it July 2016. The only change I made was to rewire the bridge and middle PUP to get middle solo instead of the bridge. I got 2 Ptone PUPs and the SFII to better suit my Hard Rock band (the SJ5XXX worked great for my Classic Country band which disbanded upon the bandleader's death). I was looking for more low mids, hence the PUP changes.

Pulling the PUPs, I found the neck PUP was already a Ptone, the other 2 were both FD3s. I had no idea Ptones existed in Jun 2016 (the date of the neck Ptone), nor that one came installed in Super 5s.

Also, the original PUPs had the large Dingwall lettering on the cover, the newer Ptone have a small Ptone logo in the corner, the SFII has no logo.

My initial listen was just to make sure all the wiring changes were solid, PUP adjustments later today.

Pretty sure the PTones go way way back. I have them in some of my old AB1s.

Has anyone ever found a source for Dingwall-style knobs like on the Canadian models that are stacked? Plenty of stacked knobs around, but I don’t want to lose the aesthetic of Dingwall knobs on my SJ with a project I’m considering that would require three stacked knobs.

I tried for a long time with no luck. Ended up just going with some John East knobs.
