I use the bridge solo quite a bit. I always wire the pickup to series, which takes all of 5 minutes.

Sure, it’s a lower level than the other settings, but super focused. Just turn it up. And roll off the tone. I wish I had a bridge super fatty in my Super P. I like getting back closer to the bridge .

I have a SFII in the bridge position of my SJ5XXX, I'll put a boost back on my board and give it another listen...

I’m considering a mod for my SJ 3X. I’ve grown to really like basses with an active EQ and a passive tone control that can both be used while in active mode. My Glock has a passive tone control, but only when in passive mode. I was considering repurposing my series-parallel switches to be on-off instead so that I could remove the rotary control and free that hole up to install a StellarTone Tonestyler passive tone control. While chatting with @Selta he suggested swapping the switches for three position models to retain series-parallel, and use the third position for an off setting. Great idea. This has left me with a couple questions:

1. My bass has three SF2 pickups. With these in mind, would a on/on/on, or an on/off/on switch be the right choice?

2. I am not savy with pickup wiring. Would anybody be willing to draw a wiring schematic for the arrangement below?

So, with an on/off/on, the middle position will be off. This has pros and cons, right? Anytime you want to flip between S and P, you'll traverse off, and likely cause two "pops". But you can easily get to off from either position, just one click. The other con I can think of is that getting to "off" means you need to set middle, which isn't as easy as setting to an end position (like if you're in a rush between measures and need to absolutely nail getting to off without having to think at all). Something to think about.

SF2's are 5 wire still, right? I haven't seen one, but, I'm assuming so.
If you have an on/off/on... here's a crude text write up, I can't make a schematic or diagram at this moment.

Back of the switch lugs numbered like:
1 4
2 5
3 6

Coil 1 + to Lug 1
Coil 1 - to Lug 5
Coil 2 + to Lug 4
Coil 2 - to Lug 2
Coil ground to Lug 4

Jumper Lugs 3 and 6

Lug 4 is your ground, send it to a pot or jack ground
Lug 1 is your hot out, send it to Tonestyler

I'd keep the rotary and swap the preamp for a preamp that has a stacked bass/treble unless you really like the Glock.

A couple of issues there:

1. I do really like the Glock, which also comes with the added bonus of not needing to factor in the expense of a new preamp, and;
2. No one makes stacked Dingwall-style knobs that I've been able to find, and I don't want to lose the aesthetic of Dingwall's Canadian model knobs.

My first dingwall was a 2x and it didn’t leave me wanting anything… except more Dingwalls.

Currently have 3- 2x models in the fam. All in their own way perfection, like yours!

Quite honestly, the only thing I'd miss having a 2x vs a 3x is the extra thumb rest of the middle pickup because all I use is the neck or neck + bridge.

Sitting here realizing that new fun fact too... Kinda glad i didnt take a swing at a fancy top myself.

If you live in or near the Rockies, it isn't that far to take a family vacation or guys trip (used to do an annual Harley trip) to Saskatoon. There's some beautiful country up there and West of there.

Just finished practicing a 5 song set for church this Sunday with my NG3 => Mesa D800+ => DIY 115. Really fond of this rig. The Beyma 15WR400 ferrite woofer delivers such a rich and solid tone with this signal. This bass has the best intonation, string to string balance, and purity of tone from low to high that I've ever had the pleasure of playing. The SFII low end fullness and passive tone to smooth out the highs really make this one sing. As with my other bass, even though the preamp is useful and adds something extra, I end up playing mostly in passive mode where pickup alignment, hand position, and passive tone adjustment give me what I need.

I did a double-take on your DIY 115. I thought at first it was an AK cab. Looks nice!

If you live in or near the Rockies, it isn't that far to take a family vacation or guys trip (used to do an annual Harley trip) to Saskatoon. There's some beautiful country up there and West of there.

Please do come for a visit, but be forwarned that there isn't any landscape particularly interesting close by Saskatoon.... 2 hours north is boreal forest which is beautiful, otherwise it's a 6-7 hour drive to anything not flat praries.
