That's exactly what I would go with if I do a 6-way. I found the bridge only on my D-Roc the least usable, it was very thin sounding compared to the rest of the settings. How different is the middle vs the neck solo? Which one sounds most like a P Bass?1 - Middle Solo
2 - Bridge & Middle in Parallel
3 - Bridge & Middle in Series
4 - Bridge & Neck in Parallel
5 - Neck Solo
6 - Bride & Middle in Parallel/Series Neck
3 and 6 are, as you'd expect, a bit more hairy
I'd say the neck is more of that middy honk you get with a P. The middle pickup is more rounded. Both very useable!

I bought a Barefaced Super Twin T for larger or outdoor shows for stage fill to supplement the FOH system. No more DIY, just play and enjoy.

Thank you very much for the explanations.I borrowed my friend’s NG for a few weeks during the Christmas holidays and played it a lot.
As much as I like it, i feel more comfortable with the medium scale basses, specially when playing standing up. I’m 1,61m / 5 ft 4 tall, so the 37” scale length feels a bit like a stretch.
Sitting down it is not a big issue.
It’s not that the bass feels uncomfortable ,because I have used it live and it definitely works, but I cannot justify spending more than 4k on a bass that I dont feel 100% comfortable with.
At some point I will probably order a bare bones ABZ or an NG/JT/Nashville bass for recording purposes, though.
The SJ5 should cover the need for the low B, while still providing the Dingwall tone

I can’t comment on dingwall’s wenge neck but..
I have played Warwick basses for the past 12 years.
I prefer the feel of ovangkol over Warwick’s Wenge neck.
Much smoother, sound similar not to say identical to me.

My ABI has a roasted ash neck with an ebony board, and I just love it. Very articulate, but still very full.

My Super P has a wenge neck and my SJ roasted ash. Personally, i prefer the feel of wenge better. It feels faster and smoother to the touch.
I spec’d my upcoming SJ5 with a wenge neck, too

1) Not interested in owning one at this point, but, I am interested in playing one and the idea of a low-thrills, low-option spec that comes out of Canada.

I got the email from JFB yesterday! Z3 is here and came in just before the tariffs kicked in! He sent preliminary pics and the video is on YT. I spec'd out SFII/SFII/P-Tone but they sent SFII in all three positions. Fortunately John had a new P-Tone pickup lying around so looks like I will be getting both for the neck position! Weight is 8.75 lbs!!!!
