I got the email from JFB yesterday! Z3 is here and came in just before the tariffs kicked in! He sent preliminary pics and the video is on YT. I spec'd out SFII/SFII/P-Tone but they sent SFII in all three positions. Fortunately John had a new P-Tone pickup lying around so looks like I will be getting both for the neck position! Weight is 8.75 lbs!!!!

Ya, my build is "locked", so it will be what it will be at this point. I just need to find the extra unexpected money, apparently. Maybe we'll luck out and smarter people will prevail before shipping happens.
1100 miles and 19 hours each way haha. Not an option for me, though I'd love to do it just to visit the shop.

2) What about a super P with 3 pickups and no pickguard?

Definitely want to get a fast lane at some point, the ovangkol/limba combo seems interesting and I don’t have a dingwall yet with SFII pickups.

Did you have a chance to try an ash neck out?

Yeah briefly at the guitar summit and it did feel good. Sheldon recommended it because of its similarities to wenge, but it is lighter than wenge and easier to source good quality pieces.

Don’t get me wrong. The roasted ash neck feels really good, but i just prefer wenge a bit better

Thanks! For specs, I went with dual density ash, flamed maple top with a natural contrast layer, wenge neck and board, MOP face inlays (was considering blue luminlay, but decided to leave that for just the side dots), SFIIs w/ a P-Tone neck, switches, and a Neve preamp.

Finish was inspired from an Ibanez premium bass I used to have but sold since my first Dingwall kept being picked up instead. I went with a flat indigo blue stain for the top (shocker, I know) and trans black back, with the natural maple layer in between. Went for the somewhat rare matte finish for that reason too.

Just saw this video on Instagram. Does anyone know if a preamp for the D-Roc becomes an option? Still have likely more than a year to go. And was fine with passive. But all this sweet talk about the Neve preamp, and hearing this, get me doubting again.
