are you happy with your passive electronic or you wish you should have gone active?
I'm happy with it. I did ask about the Neve pre when it was released, but My body was already routed and it was too late to add it on.
I prefer passive basses.
I am. It's all usable tones.

It's not strung for F# most of the time. I just wanted the option and to have it set up from Dingwall for F#.

I have been looking at Dingwall for a reasonable time, now. But there is no way I can try one.
Also, the Canadian ones and the China/Canada new are out of my reach.
So, I have been looking at the used market.
I see the combustion and the ng3, but I spotted in an online store a Combustion 2 and Combustion 4. Both with 2 pickups, but I don’t know the difference between them. Could anybody shed some light about the models, please?

It says the nut width on the c2 is 49mm which is a lot for a 4 string! Is this information correct?

On the Dingwall site there is a specs page to compare models.
The sunburst one is an older run of combustion, and could have emg pickups and preamp.
The black one is newer with the now standard size pickup shells.
Nuts are measured from end to end, but are diagonal across the neck, so that number looks big but doesn’t reflect the width at the nut.
If you check out the specs page, you’ll see the necks don’t vary much.
You may have to buy without a test drive, but you won’t be disappointed.
All four strings are 19 mm at the bridge.

And me. All three have been absolutely superb out of the box.'xactly how I purchased all 3 of my Dingwalls!
Mine were all ordered online. I did play a friend’s ABZ to make sure I could jive with the scale length before ordering.
There are a whole lot of pickups that are the same size as those BUT not from Dingwall.

Steve's beloved ABZ was the first Dingwall I ever played. Besides being a huge Dingwall advocate, more importantly he was a great human being. It was a priviledge to have known him/spent time with him. I will miss him.Sad news to report.

A Canadian Dingwall is totally out of my reach. But I have been looking at the Combustion series and the fact that they are all shipped to Canada and disassembled, get a setup and fretlevel, review of electronics, is something that I never seen in budget models of premium brands.
I want a four string bass that will replace all the 4 strings I have, except my first bass and a 75 Precision, four obvious reasons.
I play Jazz, 90% on double bass.
I like P bass tones.
Flat strings, particularly TI Flats.
I like passive basses, but I find active useful, too. As long as passive works without batteries, it’s fine.
I also play 80s, 90s music. Blues, Fusion, Rock. Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, RATM, Weather Report, Snarky Puppy, I play almost everything.
What I don’t play is country, modern heavy metal (the one with super low tunings and super fast riffs).
I want the bass to be with TIFlats. Maybe get a super long E string and the rest the normal set will probably fit.
I am tired of looking for basses. Really. I want a bass that I can take anywhere.
Am I asking too much from a Combustion?
I realize that there are models with 2 or 3 pickups. What are the rotary options on the 2 pickups?
Would it be better for me to go with the 3 pickups?
Also, what would be a good price for a new Combustion CB3 4 strings in Europe?
