Thanks everybody.
The Afterburner II is really something. I just about put it down for now. I will make a NBD post and a video on it as well when I have rested from working etc, but wow!
I mean, I was wondering today how close it was going to be to the DROC and how much I would like/dislike it compared to that, but this is... totally different. It's so warm and full sounding with that ever-present layer of grind to it.
I love how it feels, the neck is perfect for me and so easy to play. The surface of the neck is similar to the DROC neck but I think its smoother than that. The DROC was smooth but this is on another level of smoothness.
I love these Dingwall knobs, they are so nice to the touch and grippy and they actually take a little bit of effort to turn but they are all even across the board, those easily beat any other potentiometers and knobs I have ever used, like *** Dingwall. The hell are these knobs made out of
Perfect fretwork across the board, low action everywhere. Easy access to any frets and even the first position is easy to reach. It kind of took me off guard because it was so easy for me to reach the first few positions and I thought to myself "huh". I assume it can be attributed to how deep the neck goes into the body. I thought a 37" would be worse than that but honestly, I don't have any issues with any of this at all. Super cool!
And, of course, the whole bass is beautiful. I like how classy it looks. That's partially why I just... grabbed it. I thought that maple/maple went great with the cream colour and I was so right! It's quite yellow in person, actually. But that is hard to judge yet since it's getting late here and the sun is behind some clouds.
I just need to figure out how to clean it!
So any tips here I would totally appreciate!
Polyurethane satin neck finish
Polyurethane gloss body finish
Maple fretboard.
I'm guessing here - just clean cloth for the body and the neck, what about the maple fretboard? Is Dunlop lemon oil okay to use to clean it up?
I tried calling the store to thank the guy who sold it to me but he texted me that he is busy. Said he will give me a call on Monday, so maybe then I will be able to thank him for this instrument.
I'm just kind of rambling right now since I am floored with this bass, sorry club
Definitely chocolate hahahahaha! It's amazing.
I am super happy to own this giga-bass
