I thought they might be doing FD3s in the same shell as the SuperFatties (if possible) just for the look and to keep a somewhat traditional look on the Super series models.

The coils are fundamentally different and not compatible with each other's shells. It's ironic that to make the Super J more traditional sounding we had to make it more modern looking.

I have an alder-bodied Mexican Fender Jazz V that weighs close to 11 lb, and 10lb Fodera 5-strings are not uncommon.
He FD3's aren't thin, the Super J is thin. Those are the same FD3's that are currently available for an ABXXX.
Reddavid - this is the new 2014 Super J. We've merged the SJ Standard and Custom. More details to come
Bocete - as Smallequestrian says, the FD3s are standard (ish), we had to modify the coils and use a 6-string shell for the 5 and a 5-string shell for the 4 due to the longer coil structure resulting from the increased angle placement. More details on that to come too.

Does it have four stings, morado board w/dots, white pearl pick guard, trans red and a matching headstock? If you 'see it' floating around, tell it to be patient...
I'm excited by Sheldon's decision to use a pair of FD-3's in the new Super J's. I know the body of the blue five string NAMM SJ is chambered. I'm wondering if the four string bodies will be solid. Lots of time to wonder as my DAS funds are critically low...
That ABZ hit all my hot spots. Never been a fan of maple fretboards for some reason and always like a natural finish or transparent finish that allows the grain to show through.
