Are those pickups bigger than the SuperFatties?
They're FD3s, now an option on SJ's...and it's Sheldon's new thin line body.

Very interesting developments. I did not previously thank you for sharing - Thanks, BurningSkies.![]()
I thought they might be doing FD3s in the same shell as the SuperFatties (if possible) just for the look and to keep a somewhat traditional look on the Super series models.
Beautiful, and must sound amazing, but not for the faint of heart (or back).
Even with the slender proportions of Sheldon's basses, I imagine that thing has got to be up into the nines.
Maple is not one of your lighter hardwoods...

It has chambers but you're right. In the 9's.
Are these thin FD-3s available on ABs or Zs? I'm thinking that an ABXXX with these would look phenomenal.
Also, 6 string option?
Playing my Dingwalls at home this morning, watching the beautiful snow that caused worship services to be cancelled, and reflecting on the relentless character of DAS (well, I still don't have a red one). Such temptation, Sheldon. Please never stop doing what you do so well.
P.S. Cool new SJ pick guard!
Reddavid - this is the new 2014 Super J. We've merged the SJ Standard and Custom. More details to come
Bocete - as Smallequestrian says, the FD3s are standard (ish), we had to modify the coils and use a 6-string shell for the 5 and a 5-string shell for the 4 due to the longer coil structure resulting from the increased angle placement. More details on that to come too.

Uh OH! I think I see yet another order in your future! LOL!![]()
I finally got to play this setup with the full band. Sounded great! The cab is a Berg NV215 and the ABZ has a P-Tone in it.
That ABZ hit all my hot spots. Never been a fan of maple fretboards for some reason and always like a natural finish or transparent finish that allows the grain to show through.
