Yup. Definitely.

And the reason I have them side x side is they are my 2 main settings. Following that, the other 4 settings are more unique scenarios where I would choose them.

Didn't expect that.

I have those pickup combinations but on two different Afterburners, and the instruments themselves are further apart tonally than this pickup difference (to my ears anyway).

I guess now the only thing left for me is to investigate into this further ..
Or maybe just play them the way they are, that worked fine for the last couple of years

To be fair, the SP1s come stamped "Super P" in their backplate.

That's awesome! Just don't see them that often. Mostly it's a sea of P or J basses. Glad to see more around! Super versatile basses.

I got my AB1 in 2005 before Dingwall hit the metal scene in a big way. It sounded great in church then, and it still does. It just sits in the mix so well like no other bass I've played.

Oh yeah, the Dingwall B is unmatched IMO. Has clarity, punch, and definition. Not your typical 5 string.

I ordered it last year in August. Since my last SJ took about 1 1/2 years, I’m calculating roughly the same amount of time, but I don’t keep my hopes up haha.

The specs will be similar but not the same.

Swamp ash body (maybe dual density swamp ash, not swamp & northern ash)
P-tone in the neck + SFII x2
Wenge neck & board
Never preamp
Luminlays
Block inlays.

Recently I’ve been going back and forth on which finish I want and whether to go for block or speedo bars.

This SJ has really caught my attention


On the other hand, I also like this trans black finish, which would be sort of a tribute to my very 1st Dingwall:

Specifically about the 4-string - I’m going on a cruise ship at the end of August and I’m not sure if I should get the SP1 or something ultra light and small like a Squier Mustang.

I don't know when the rebuild will be done -- I'm at exactly one month since they started, so I'm guessing 2-3 more months of waiting.

I got some weights from John Fox bass, provided to him by Dingwall on the first batch. The 4-strings weighed 7.8 to 8.9 pounds with the average at about 8.2 pounds. For my super light weight bass I got a Serek The Grand short scale. Very easy to transport, compact, fun to play, and sounds great.

Agreed. Fo me, the prices have risen beyond what I am willing to pay. Since my income did not grow accordingly, there must be consequences.

$3K for the Asian import Dingwalls is getting out of reach as well.

As an owner of 6 DWs (3 custom and 3 imports) and 2 imports previous these prices are insane.

I saw the Nashville’s going for $4600 Canadian on Reverb , $3800 locally (before taxes) IMO for a MIC instrument that’s bonkers.
