I have used Honda spray cleaner on my basses and pedals for years. Fantastic general purpose cleaner for car dashboards, etc.

Elegant. The pickup slant aligning with the bridge is so much more pleasing than 37” models

The feedback from Dingwall was Khaya tends to be lighter than alder which was...surprising, I must admit. So, going to see if I can ask for a "heavier" piece when it comes time for my build. The dual density still calls to me, I won't lie, but having never played one it's a tough ask.

I slightly regret going for a swamp and northern ash dual density body due to the weight of the bass. I think I should've picked dual density swamp ash only
My SJ is not a boat anchor, but it is definitely heavy for a 4 string bass.
Years ago I ordered a SJ5 with a solid northern ash body. It was heavy at over 10 lbs but man it sounded glorious. Sustain and punch you can only get with high density wood.Solid specs!

Yeah, considering I'm used to Warwicks (think solid bubinga Thumb's) in my past, I think I have a predisposition towards sustain, punch and dense tonewoods
I’ve been working on the specs for my custom build for a little while. I have come to the conclusion that any of these 3 possible basses would make me 100% happy. If only I could get the 3 of them

1) ABZ 4 string, 3X FDV, Neve Preamp, matte blueberry metallic, roasted northern ash neck, wenge fretboard lumilay face and side dots.
2) AB1, 4 string, 3X FDV, Neve, vintage White, Ovangkol/Wenge neck, lumilay face and side dots.
3) AB2, 4 string, 3X FDV, Neve, Maple contrasting Line, translucent finish, Maple/Wenge neck, lumilay face and side dot.

As much as I love my Combustion 6, there are some design choices that bug me. The recessed input jack for one, and the pickups not following the fan. I can't help but imagine it would make the B String even more articulate and even out string to string balance

I've yet to try a Dingwall with a Neve preamp but have experiences with the DGTC and Glockenklang (the preamp in my ABI).
I'm curious to hear what active preamp do you all prefer.
So far with me it's the Glockenklang. I've owned a couple of NG's with the DGTC and they were great but when I first tried an ABI with the Glock, I was amazed. So much so, when it came to ordering my custom ABI, I went with it.
What intrigues me so much about the Neve is the passive tone control. A Sadowsky preamp with the VTC is really amazing and the Neve seems to be capturing this too. Do I just need to bite the bullet and buy a JT5?

Should hopefully have my new Z with Neve in the next 3 months or so. Happy to arrange a meet up for you to try it out (can even compare it to my Glock loaded Z as well at the same time).
