Thanks Sheldon for making the Combustions. And, I say that not just 'cause they're more affordable, but because w/ the PG they appeal to those of us that are fond of more traditional looks. Which makes me wanna ask.... ever thought of making some opaque finished ABs w/ PGs??

Shut up. I think I can resist the Combustion temptation. And I was able to go Lakland-less until a solid color+pickguard showed up. I really don't need to know about a solid color AB1 with a pickguard. Especially not with an alder body and wenge fingerboard. Just shut up. :p

HAHAHA

I know that some people don't like the plain maple at the neck/body joint of the ABs (I'm not fond of it but it's no biggie to me), and a PG would cover that nicely.

We've looked into that in the past, but we'd have to modify the end of the neck to make it happen. So it got shelved.

Yeah, I thought about that when I asked, the gentle slope of the neck heel next to the flat body... I figured, if I was careful with my dremel, I could remove a little PG material to make it lay flush, probably above my ability :). Of course, my efforts to get my 6 string AB back are not working out, so I have nothing to work with right now anyways :mad:. I shoulda never let her go!

I've got a buddy out there who wants to pull the trigger on a new Dingwall but he's a little skittish about the fanned fret configuration. I'm hoping somebody in the vicinity would extend him a little hospitality and allow him to see, touch, pluck, thumb, slap, etc. any 5 string model. I don't know the territory that well but this cat is willing to drive wherever for the opportunity.

Call Jive Sound in Alexandria and see what they have in stock. Google says about 3.5 hours from you. Their site says they may have some 5s in stock.

Edit: Oops. I was looking near Virginia Beach, not in NC. Look here: http://www.dingwallguitars.com/html/dealers.html There's a place called BunnyBass listed. If its still there...the website isn't.

Jody, I silently thank you every time I plug old blue in. The closest emotion it brings to mind is I finally found the woman I was meant to be with, (five strings, fanned frets, passive electronics, awesome balance and feel). I just want to spread the news to the unconverted. GO GET ONE, SIGHT UNSEEN, YOU WON'T REGRET IT! If you do, and unlikely it isn't nirvana, there are plenty of people who will take her over for you!!!!!
