Ooooooh, that natural is nice! But then again so is the Blackburst. I think with rosewood, I would go the natural route. It's a nice example of modern meets trad.

Blackburst is the only black finish that I care for, but I'd go au naturale and chrome knobs with these two options.
Very true! My Super P4 is so easy to play. It's an absolute joy!!
But then, when I play my Voodoo prima, I really appreciate how easy it is to play as well, with just a bit more reach.

I watched a segment on a morning news show this past week which reported the fact that crash test dummies have been made larger and heavier to reflect the size and weight of the general population.

Really what I want, if I won the lottery is a ABZ 3X. That balance of co!or and visable natural wood grain is sexy.

All kidding aside, picking a finish is always the hardest part for me. When I decided to try a Ric 4003, I had a terrible time, but ended my torture by telling myself that natural is always cool and went with Mapleglo. I enjoyed playing it for a while, but it met the same fate that mono-scaled basses in my house eventually meet - sold to fund a Dingwall... 
Yeah I'm thinking more like 32 on the low end and 29 on the treble side or something.
You could check the Stambaugh site, he's done some fanned frets. I don't know about short scales, though.

Drum comping should be finished by Thursday or Friday, and I'll be knocking down all of the bass parts on Saturday before we start tracking guitars on Monday...I can hardly wait to hear what the 3x SJ adds to the mix

Saw a thread on the Ibanez bass booth at Bass Player Live -- they included a fan-fretted model.
It'll be interesting to see how the pricing on that fanned-fret model comes in; Ibanez will have the advantages of a very wide dealer network, but they'll need to keep the price point lower than some of their other Prestige basses.
Otherwise, it's like buying a hamburger at Taco Bell, when there's an In & Out or Smashburger next door...

Sorta underwhelmed by what I see of it. Not that I'm Ibanez prone anyway...but that body shape doesn't really do much for me and over all it's a bit bland. The fan is 34"-35.5", so kind of missing that boat too.
And it'll have one of those awful paper thin necks with stupid small string spacing. It's a very classy looking bass, but until they put the BTB neck shape/ string spacing on an SR body, I'll pass.
There is a thread on TB about the fanned-fret Ibby.
My feeling is that they missed the boat. The fan is only an inch and a half, so that's a fail to start with. The pricing in Japan is waaaaay up there, to boot.
I suspect that they'll sell a handful to dedicated Ibanez collectors, and people who love the SR pencil-neck feel. Other than that, I predict that it will be a dud.
Especially since Sheldon and co. upgraded the Combustions and lowered the prices with the latest models. I can't imagine many people wanting to pay more than double for a knock-off of the real thing.
