Dingwall Owners Club

Nice set of basses, do you know what year that Cocobolo bass is?

Cliff - sorry for the delayed reply.

Dec 2006. In this thread, they mention the 12 basses they made for Bass Northwest:

My bass is 1 of 12 (look at the pic entitled ABII5C scroll 1 and that is my bass).

I found out later they didn't make many more after that. Turns out the stuff is difficult to work with and the dust is toxic.

Dang!!!

From fb.

"Afterburner I Flame top Trans Blackburst passive available now. Every once in a while we end up with an available bass. They don't get much more desirable than this one plus you don't have to wait the normal 9 months for a custom build. Contact Barry at [email protected] for details."

This pic makes me re think the "I don't need a fancy top" thing...

If I placed the order about a month ago, I'd guess I could send an email to Barry and a bit more deposit to add a flame top right? Or do you guys this it's to late to change my mind?

Eric

ya, saw that too! She's a beauty!! Lovin the flame maple on my red one - the way "I" look at it, is if you're going to spend some good coin on a custom ordered bass, you might as well make it "look" like one. Its probably the single biggest reason why I didn't get a Super series (as my first DW)...I wanted the unique body shape versus the "traditional" body shape. Having said that, i KNOW me, and I KNOW I will likely have a Super within a year or so. lol...when the right one comes along, I will snatch it up. Right now, i'm pushing my luck...snagged one last week (AB1) and I have an ABZ on order.....my salvation(execution) is that the Canadian dollar S U C K S right now...so that has forced me to just drool in the classified section. :)

They're still a ways out from starting the actual build work, so you should be fine. Just try not to send too many of those emails ;)

The pic of Bob's elegant P w/tort still adorns the desktop of my computer at work. Total class.
That is such a compliment when one considers the incredible examples of Dingwallness that you own yourself!

I am about to put the bass back into classic P configuration with tort. I think I like that arrangement a bit better for my Super P.

The day has arrived!

Today I felt like The Proclaimers... but instead of walking - I drove 500km and ended up in Saskatoon. There I found the Dingwall shop where I picked up my new Combustion from none other than the Mr. Dingwall himself. Now that I'm home, I've plugged it in and can honestly say it's the greatest instrument I've ever played.

But alas, it's not a NBD without pictures!

Thanks BS - I have the fEARful and the Monique - working on a Dingwall next! Any advice on model(s) for this set up?

Sorry I missed your post earlier. You know, I can't think you'll go wrong no matter what. I only have experience with the Z series and the AB-1. To me the AB was a bit more mid forward and a little less tame. That was ash body, maple top, maple neck, with wenge board. The Swamp Ash/maple top Z with maple/maple board is a bit more polite and even, but that could be the preamp.

It probably depends upon what you're interested in.
