Dingwall Owners Club

this is not my bass, but just look at it...

After years of staring at the work of team Dingwall here and everywhere, my day finally came...

A very good friend lent me this for a few weeks of trial:

I've demoed a couple of 35" scales (read 5 string novice) and this thing is easier to play than my p-bass with my tiny hands, wow. Absolutely no fear of the 37" now... amazing neck.

I think NG-2 is the first stop on this trip!

Guys, I really want a 4 string Dingwall... Super P preferably, but an ABZ/ ABI would be sweet too. Good thing there aren't any available in my price range in the U.S.

As for the Dually in the classifieds right now... It's very tempting. Like very very. Super mega I can taste it tempting.

I hear you DTS, I chased down my Roscoe after a 2 year wait/search, and even though it's everything I hoped it would be, I usually reach for the ABI which not only has tone, but is over a pound lighter and balances wonderfully. Your soon-to-be mine SP5 will be over 1 1/2 lbs lighter, I can't even wrap my head around that. I'm truly blessed to own 3 world class 5ers plus the CS '59 NOS P4. Life is good!

And I will treat her right and gig her hard.

Hey singlemalt, you started it with your former ABI, it feels like it is made of balsa wood when it's strapped on. The SP5 should feel likes it's filled with helium. And with no balance or tone sacrifices, whats not to love?

The Roscoe gives up nothing in tone, looks or B string, but with a bad L5, 1 lb 10 ozs is a weight reduction which will keep me gigging for years to come.

...Finally I found a deal I could just barely afford on an imperial elite 5 string singlecut. It's been here 3 days and I've spent as much if not more time playing my super pj5 than this Fodera. What the heck man. Dingwall.
Yup. GAS is dead, long live DAS.

I still check out high end parallel fret basses from time to time, but I don't lust after them any more. Not even Roscoes, or the odd Fodera that shows up in my travels. Those were my two favourite brands, pre-Dingwall.

The only reason my modded Squier VMP5 stays on, is because I have so little money in it.

Just got back from practice a bit ago, I was really anxious to play the ABI again, it stays at practice and I had been 2 weeks playing parallel fretted bases since there was no practice last week, the horror! Shouldn't happen again since DTS' SP5 is officially on its way to Utah, now I will always have one on hand to play. Seriously, I really missed it.

Interesting side note, the gui****st asked me to take some bass out of my tone, apparently iI was overpowering the basement (2250 sq ft), position 1, no tone roll off. Played it on position 3 for a while, but couldn't handle the J gank, so put it back on Position 1 and rolled the tone down halfway. Sheesh, what a lightweight!

Does anyone know for sure which strings (nickel or ss) come stock on new Canadian made Dingwalls? I know the nickel come stock on the Combustions because I have one, but not sure about the Canadian made basses.

Thanks!
I am not sure, usually Sheldon would ask the owner of a bespoke bass being built for preference of strings, but it would be best to ask Mr. Sheldon Dingwall here: Invalid Link Removed
