Just got an email from Sheldon. My Combustion is in the final inspection process now, and he hopes to have it out to FedEx tomorrow (Tues) So I should be able to officially join this club soon. Reminds me of the old song, "Anticipation..." :hyper:

Will keep everyone updated... If I like the Combustion as much as I think I will (after having tried out an AB last year) I suspect that I'll be using it as my main go-to bass; and I don't expect to add any more basses to the stable for a while.

GAS won't be completely dead, though, at the moment I have NO pedals, not even a tuner, let alone any effects pedals. So guess I'll be starting to spend a lot more time in the effects forum in the future...:help:

Awesome news-- these are amazing basses-
they feel, play and sound like a Dingwall- so i suspect you'll love the instrument (I got my CAG combustion 1 months ago- my 5th Dingwall bass)-
Just be aware that you will receive a FED EX bill 4-6weeks after receipt of your bass for customs taxes.

Yep, know about the follow-up import duty tax, saw that on the Dingwall website, plus Sheldon warned me it might arrive - apparently some people didn't get charged while others did. With my luck, I'll probably get the bill from Fed Ex... I don't tend to have good luck that way when it comes to various charges and what not!

Yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones who got billed by FedEx, about $70. I called them on the phone and paid them by credit card.

While I knew the Combustion was going to be pretty light, I wasn't really ready for how light it really is, especially compared to some of my other basses - none of which are in the heavy body category as is. (Tendonitis in the shoulders makes light basses a bit of a necessity for me.) But there isn't really any neck dive, either; it balances very nicely. And playing it through scales, arpeggios and a few tunes reinforces my initial impression from the AB I played for 15 minutes last year - not only did I have no problem adapting to the fanned frets, for the most part I didn't even notice the difference. If anything, the fanned frets feel more comfortable, more natural for my playing than my parallel basses do. I hooked it up to my 'gig rig' (GK MB2 500 and GK NEO 210) and the sound and tone was just KILLER. Clear and bright when I wanted; dark and growly when I dialed it in and changed my 'attack.' Wow. And while I don't do a lot of popping/slapping, did a little of that and it really responds well...false/harp harmonics work extremely well too. Now I gotta woodshed enough to bring my playing ability up to the point where it's worthy of this great bass....It'll be a great incentive to increase the amount of time I practice!
