Dingwall Owners Club

I like Bart's in certain basses but not in others. In my Modulus Q5...killer! In my Roscoe...not so much.

I didn't like the Barts in the V/P I just got when they were wired as a passive Jazz setup. I also didn't love them the first time I dropped in the Aguilar OBP-2 @9v and with the first blend pot I got. This last run of re-working the electronics made them way more usable and good sounding. They're not FD3's, but I've put my "get FD3's ASAP" plans on hold.

In case anyone missed it this was posted up by Leland Sklar on FB

"My rig for the TOTO tour. Dingwall bass and Euphonic Audio amp. Done...oh yes, and a cable!!!"

Just put this on last night. I really wish that it matched a little better. This one is a double-stop. I have played with it a little. Don't have the middle stop set right yet.

I like this look of this one better than the ones that came on the bass. Wonder if I can order 4 more regular ones from Hipshot to match this one?

Does anybody else use the Hip Shot? Double Stop?

What note do most drop to?

I have mine set right now to Bb and Ab. I play in church alot and Bb and Ab are keys they play in. Now I can play the root in a low register and rumble the big subs

I believe any USA set of Hipshot HB6Y-3/8 in chrome will be an exact match drop in to your D tuner.

Cool, thanks. I guess I am OCD enough to do that. Probably will.

So, the Dingwall basses have Hipshot tuners that are without the logo? Or because mine is a combustion, does it have Chinese made tuners?
My AB1 has tuners with the Hipshot logo on them; I believe the Combustion basses use different (non-Hipshot) tuners.

That drop tuner looks to be satin not chrome
That's right. The current Hipshot style has a satin key and other bits. They used to offer a full shiny version they called nickel but that's a discontinued finish. What you see on tat drop tuner would be the match to their current 'chrome' designation. I'd recommend a quick visit to the Hipshot website to verify.

BTW, you gave me thinking now. Do you have the item number on this drop tuner?

The number on the box says:
HE6Y-3/8 Chrome
20660C

I ordered the wrong number at first, I ordered the half inch one. I called hipshot to do the return and told them I had a Dingwall Bass and they told me something about the Dingwall bass used a slightly different tuner, that something was shorter, not quite sure I understand that, but if you order one you might want to call them and ask about it

Dingwall uses a 3/8" with a custom short shaft. It would be considered a special order through Hipshot.

Would it be a short-shaft on the Combustion?
I think the short shaft on the Afterburners is to address the countersunk bushings.

The Z and Prima basses have angled headstocks that eliminate the need for either a string retainer or the countersunk bushings.
