You are correct. My Z/V has a switch for each pickup to choose between series/parallel:

Once I get to ordering a new set of FD-3-4L for my V/P I will wire the pickups in series to the 4 way. I find that I really like the series setting for both pickups. It's a bit more low mid forward with less scoop. The parallel setting sounds more Jazz bass oriented to me which is not really my thing.

Big favor to ask... would it be possible to hear those pickups flipped through series and parallel? I'm trying to make my decision on getting the switches as well, but not sure I'll ever really use the parallel setting.

Parallel neck is great mixed with a series bridge pu. Parallel is not as desirable solo'd imho. Too scooped.

It will be, but not in the next couple days. I don't have an amp at home, and my recording setup is in our rehearsal space. It's a really busy week for me with band stuff and work and all that junk.

I'm not in a huge rush. I'm going to get my order in today, but I would think I would have at least a couple of weeks to change it if I want to remove the S/P toggle option :). Thank you so much. That'll be an enormous help for me.

You should have plenty of time. I placed an order for an ABZ in April of last year, and over the course of the months I made a couple of changes which included adding a Glock pre and upgrading to an AB1. The final change (AB1 upgrade) was made in early October, and the bass was completed in early December.

That was pretty much what I assumed - most of the wait time "my" bass won't even be a thought, just sitting in queue waiting to get its shop time. I know some builders hate spec changes, so I want to nail down as much as I can early enough for no surprises. At this point, I'm over my self-imposed budget... but this should be a lifetime bass, and the wife is still super supportive of all of it. ICool that I should have a couple of months even! I'm hoping for this to be a Christmas preset for myself, with any luck.

Edit to add: It's going to be hard to not buy any basses while this is being built xD

Cool. I just don't want to get expectations up right now. It's a matter of me getting in the room with my computer and some free time set it up. I have some new strings, so I could just make a thing of it when I change them out soon.

Being content, comfortable, or happy with an instrument will definitely improve your mood and likely playing. I'm so glad I found Dingwalls, because they just feel and sound so great, that my playing (and want of practice/improvement) has been through the roof. I gotta give it to @Sheldon D. - the Canadian ones are great, but if it wasn't for the Combustions, I might not have been able to convince (financially) myself to try one out.

After about 8 years of playing only the Rastaburst, there's been a 'getting to know you' time. That bass is so effortless and easy to play and I'm so used to knowing exactly how to get it to sound certain ways...that this one has been a bit of work. I've been woodshedding some new finger exercises and using it exclusively for practice recently though. It has a different 'soul' than the Rastaburst. It's louder acoustically and a bit more lively feeling. I'm thinking it's probably the pickups, but in a band setting it seems to get a bit lost in the mix, and unlike the FD3's and the Aggie preamp the RB has, the Voodoo Prima acts very differently with boost or cut applied.

It's official. I'm in line as of today. Just got off of the phone with my dealer (which, by the way, is Invalid Link Removed - Chad is *great* to work with) to put my deposit down. Here is what I settled on and don't anticipate changing. If I'm going to custom order, might as well go all in and have no regrets or thoughts of "What if I had just done ______". I'm hoping I just bought myself a Christmas gift.
