Dingwall Owners Club

It's official. I'm in line as of today. Just got off of the phone with my dealer (which, by the way, is Invalid Link Removed - Chad is *great* to work with) to put my deposit down. Here is what I settled on and don't anticipate changing. If I'm going to custom order, might as well go all in and have no regrets or thoughts of "What if I had just done ______". I'm hoping I just bought myself a Christmas gift.

Dingwall Afterburner I, 6 string
Flamed Maple Top
Trans-Greenburst finish (green to black)
3x pickup setup (ya'll were correct, no P-tone on 6s)
Glockenklang 3 band preamp
3x Series/Parallel toggles
Maple neck, Wenge fretboard
No dots or anything on the front, Green Luminay dots on side
Black hardware + Hipsot extender key on B string

What. No matching headstock? ;)

Lovely dude, this sounds amazing. I feel like we should make a separate group and thread for us forumites waiting on builds. The Dingwall Waiting Room.

Who am I kidding that's exactly what this thread is anyway!

D'olp, I just realized I forgot to specify the Blacked out Heel + Headstock on my order!

Not really a bad idea, I think those of us waiting could commiserate, toss ideas around, etc, without distracting from the main Dingwall thread. 20...:speechless:

I don't mind posting about my wait in another thread. I certainly don't want to spam people here if this isn't the right place for it. I don't think I'll have a whole lot to say... thought about it over the night, slept on it, and I still am confident about not changing stuff :D

Tell you what. I waited a long time for V4 Combustion, then dropped it off at my luthier's place for a third pick up mod. Well over a year of wait time. Dont worry about the spam. ;)

What's involved in reversing a passive/active push-pull so that its passive when pushed in? I'm used to passive basses and having a hard time without the passive tone on the Z3 but something about playing with the pot always up triggers neurosis.

I've wondered this myself. Probably a rewire. Wish they did passive in, active out from the get go.

I've never done it myself but since I have a push/pull active/passive on my ABZ I thought I'd at least look. I was wondering about adding a switch for this the other day since I don't like the idea of being able to move the volume knob while switching modes. Here's a couple of photos of my ABZ's control cavity. The push/pull is attached to a red pcb with solder connections. My guess would be that you would simply reverse these connections making sure to keep the polarity straight. Might be a little difficult because of the room but I would think it would be an easy modification overall.

Here is the control cavity. The push/pull is on the left with the 4-way selector being that large roundish green pcb.

Here is a closer view of the push/pull to try and show the solder connections. Very tight!
