Yes. I love the bit of mid range warmth that the alder gives the bass. It should work well with the wenge neck. I will consider the possibility of a P tone for the neck once I've had a chance to play it for a while. That with alder body would probably be pretty awesome.Nose, meet grindstone...The new bass really is sweet. Regular FD3 pickups?
Superb. And yes, George is a good bloke. Well respected here amongst bass players.I did a crazy bad thing!Look what is on its way to me from George at Bass Gear Direct in Australia. Great guy to deal with by the way!

I really wanted a 3x, but I have been a sucker for Whale Pool Blue since discovering Dingwalls years ago. I have also often said that no one does blue like Sheldon, so I just couldn't help myself. George also made me a deal I couldn't refuse. Alder body, Glockenlang 3 band. Bleached burl maple top with Whale Pool Blueburst. What's not to love?![]()
It's a good/bad thing I guess........Looks like you did a good thing!

I was thinking about that earlier today. Too bad I don't get its frequent flyer miles as well! Saskatoon to Sydney to Buffalo, NY.For a new bass it'll be well travelled.

Another awesome and unique blue bass from Sheldon and the boys! Spending a little time in the land down under!!My PJ went from Canada to Australia to the US also. Kind of funny really.

Oh, and I'm not trying to make an endless stream of posts here, but I just sold my Afterburner and I'm very excited that this killer J will be on it's way to me very soon. It will be a more than worthy successor to my very first Dingwall. Perhaps not as well traveled as my PJ and BuffaloBob's AB, but still...View attachment 1023580
Thanks! The walnut neck makes it a pretty rare bird, which is cool. I'm also looking forward to the different sound from the Super Fatties. The one downside of my previous combination of AB and Super PJ is that the AB had a P-tone neck pickup, which normally would be pretty cool, but it meant that the two basses really had the same exact setup. I was kind of craving a bass that would offer up a little change in tone as well as the medium scale.Exotic, brother.I watched this one in the classifieds. Pretty cool that it has a walnut neck.
The top is quite mesmerizing!
I dig the the knobs too.Not my bass, but this is one of my all time favorites. Such a rich beautiful color!View attachment 1023498
